Pain. I was lying there, and all I felt was pain. The knife in my midsection felt like fire. Blood seeped out of the wound and onto the bricks of the alleyway. The crimson droplets shone in the faint Moonlight, and as I watched my life drain away, all I could think of was what I was missing out on. Most people say that their life flashes before their eyes, but my future flashed before mine. I was only 16, I had my whole life ahead of me. I was supposed to graduate, go to medical school, meet the man of my dreams, marry him, have kids. All of it. Gone. Just because some loser ran me through for the money in my pocket. Pain. I wanted to escape it, if I went to sleep….Maybe the pain would go away, maybe I’d live. I closed my eyes, and felt at peace. The moon got brighter, and the white light engulfed my vision.

Maybe this is the end….

Turns out it was the beginning.
