A/N:

So yea, I only know of 3-ish different species of wolves:

Grey Wolf

Arctic Wolf

Mexican Wolf

OH WAIT! And theres like a red wolf or something right? I'll google that later :P

Yes anyway, so that's why Grey Wolf is in caps and brown wolf isn't is 'cause Sam is talking about the Grey Wolf species rather than its actual colour like she is with the brown wolf ;)

Chapter 10

For some reason as I fell, all I could think of was Rihanna's song, you know, 'Russian Roulette'? I don't know why...Weird...

And you know how they say, when you're about to die, your life flashes before your eyes -maybe that's why the song came to mind- well, that's a load of bull. Nothing like that happened.

The only thing I could do was cry.

I would be eaten alive by a fucking wolf.

If I didn't cry, I don't know what I would have done.

And none of that time slowing down crap happened either, when I fell it look like a millisecond before I hit the ground and I swear it felt like my back broke.

Great, not only was I going to be eaten by a fucking wolf, but I'd be fucking paralysed during the attack! Wonderful!

I screamed waiting for gravity to go into effect, in an instant my back hit the hard ground and there was a loud thump from the impact to my head. My vision darkened for only a second before it came back, maybe it would have been better to be passed out instead of watching the wolf bare its canines and snarl as it took slow menacing steps towards me.

Fuck I'm going to die.

I'm too young to die!

I just turned sixteen!

I want to live!

I began to sob. Maybe I should have unleashed all my badass Godzilla-ness on the wolf, show off my ninja skills...that is if I had any.

Or at least tried to climb the wall again? I mean, Blue-eyes would have helped me up, because surely it would have been better than what I just did.

But no, being the idiot I am, I froze.

That's right, I froze and watched as the wolf pounced and opened its jaw ready to bite the second it landed on me.

I froze as I heard Blue-eyes panicked shouting, froze as Hailey screamed and asked what was happening. Froze as Blue-eyes took off his shoes and threw them at the- wait what?

I snapped back to reality as Blue-eyes Chucks came in contact with the wolf's snout, causing the wolf to fall back a bit and distract it for only a second before it shifted its attention back to me.

I wanted to shout 'Fuck you Blue-eyes! Now you just made the bitch angry!'

But I was too scared to open my mouth.

I started hyperventilating -my eyes glued on the wolf- as it howled and a series of profanities went through my mind.

Blue-eyes threw his other shoe at the wolf and yelled at me to climb up.

"Climb as fast as you can and I'll lift you up!" He shouted.

No use, I thought.

So I just lay there accepting my fate. Yes I was being a pussy but come on! It's a damn wolf for Christ's sake!

I closed my eyes not wanting the wolf pouncing on me as the last thing I ever saw.

Instead of thinking about what was about to happen, images of home flashed through my mind, memories of my childhood flooded back from when Maggie and I were only ten and playing together... then to my father and Julie's wedding were Maggie and I were flower girls, both so excited that we would finally be real sisters...all the way back to when I was seven and about to meet Maggie and Julie for the first time.

Ah the innocent days, now I was going die by being eaten alive by a wolf...

I heard growling and whimpering, followed by more snarling and a loud howl.

Why was I still breathing?

Surely the wolf would have attacked by now...

And what was with all the whimpering and growling?

I opened my eyes, curiosity getting the better of me only to be absolutely shocked at what I saw.

In front of me stood a large Grey Wolf baring its canines at the brown wolf from before. What bewildered me the most was the fact that the Grey Wolf stood in front of me in a sort of protective manner. The Grey Wolf growled at the large brown wolf in a threatening manner as if to say 'back off'.

"Sam! Climb up now!" Blue-eyes ordered.

Finally gaining control over my body I managed to stand up-stumbling only a little bit- and climbed up the wall faster than I thought possible, halfway up Blue-eyes grabbed my hand and helped pull me up the rest of the way before he jumped down and told me to follow.

I manoeuvred my body so my legs were dangling down the other side facing the school.

Right when I was about to jump I took a quick look back at the two wolves to see the large Grey Wolf staring back at me. Either I'm going crazy, or I swear I saw it nod its head to the left as if telling me to jump right before the brown wolf pounced on it and bit into the Grey Wolfs shoulder.

I took a quick intake of breath and the Grey Wolf whimpered in pain but recovered quickly and managed to throw the brown wolf off of it, my eyes widened as the brown wolf flew back a couple feet and it was then that I noticed the large bite mark on its foot as it limped when it got back up.

The Grey Wolf howled loudly and took a step towards the brown wolf blood oozing out of its wound.

It growled before it attacked the brown wolf, sinking its teeth into the brown wolfs throat. A few minutes later the Grey Wolf was joined by a large group of other wolves -I assumed they were park of the same pack or something- that surrounded the now severely injured brown wolf. They all growled menacingly at the brown wolf and moved so they stood behind the Grey Wolf -I guess he was their alpha- who growled as well.

The brown wolf whimpered in pain before running off to the forest knowing that there was no way he could take on a whole pack.

The Alpha howled as if telling his pack something, and running off after the brown wolf, his pack hot on his trail.

I let out my breath -not realising I'd been holding it in- as the Grey Wolf stopped in its tracks, giving me one last look before tilting his head to the left like he had before and following behind his pack members.

I watched as they disappeared into the dark forest.

"Sam! Sam!" I snapped out of it hearing Hailey franticly call my name. "Sam! Get down now! Stop ignoring me! Get down before it attacks!"

I stayed staring at the spot the wolves disappeared from before slowly moving my head to face a wide eyed Hailey and Blue-eyes.

Obeying I jumped down the wall into Blue-eyes open arms and we staggered a few steps trying to regain our balance.

"Thanks." I said in a quiet voice before walking towards the girls dorms not even looking back and ignoring Hailey's questions of my wellbeing.

I numbly climbed up the stairs to the top floor and unlocked my dorm room with shaky hands. I opened the door, locked it behind me, pulled off my dress and fell to sleep on my bed with the lights on, not bothering the take a shower and change into my pyjamas.

The last thing I saw before I was enveloped by darkness was the full moon outside my window.
