Chapter 11

It had been a week since the incident with the wolf. The whole time I'd being doing everything on autopilot; homework, eating, showering you name it.

Almost every day was filled with questions of 'what if?' and 'why?'

What if that other wolf hadn't come?

Why did that other wolf come?

What if Blue-eyes hadn't thrown his shoes?

What if I wasn't drunk at the time?

Why did I even go to the party in the first place?

All these questions got me curious, why would a stray wolf -an alpha at that- protect a human? Maybe that other wolf was part of his pack as well? Wasn't that weird behaviour for a wolf, a whole pack of wolves at that?

The curiosity was getting to me, so one day I opened up my laptop, plugged in my USB modem and went on Google.

Not know what to type I shrugged and wrote 'reasons for a Grey Wolf to protect humans'.

Nothing came up.

So than I typed 'why a wolf would attack humans' and clicked the search button chewing my nails as I waited in anticipation for the results to come up.

A whole heap of results came up. I clicked on the first link and read the first three paragraphs explaining about how it would attack if it felt threatened by a human. But that was a load of bull, why the hell would a wolf be threatened by me?

I continued reading the rest and found a plausible reason; apparently some wolves attacked if you went on their territory...except it then linked it back to being threatened.

Shaking my head I disconnected the internet and closed the laptop. That was the stupidest crap I've ever read.

Threatened...psh...

But maybe it was true.

I mean there were a lot of people at the party...

I huffed and took out some homework that I needed to do since I was quickly falling behind my classmates, every period I would spend staring at the distant woods through the windows instead of taking notes.

I received plenty of detentions that I never went to and was starting to lose what little social life I had in the first place.

At least I could try and focus more on my grades.

Once day at lunch when I had been sitting under a tree outside listening to my iPod Alex came and sat next to me.

I didn't even look at him and instead pretended to be focused on the long grass that swayed with the soft breeze and the golden-brown autumn leaves that were falling off the trees.

"You know you have to talk about it sometime right?" Alex finally said breaking the silence. I hadn't spoken to him the whole week and instead had been avoiding him like the plague.

"Sam? You can't continue doing everything like a zombie." He waited for me to object.

Nope.

He sighed. "Look, Sam, I know it was a bad experience but you can't just shut everyone out... Do you know how worried Hailey was? She's still worried! She thinks you've gone into some kind of depression or something-"
