Chapter 20.

Gabby's POV
I wake up with a jump from someone's phone going off.I quickly stumble off of the couch Brent and I had fallen asleep on,and move around to find the unknown phone.

I find it,and slide it left turning the phone call off.

I squint as I read the time.4:45 am.

Who calls at 4:45 in the morning?I question myself.

I look at the lock screen.It was Brennan's phone.It was a photo of Lucy and Brennan in a photo booth.

Brennan was kissing Lucy's cheek,and Lucy was grinning from ear to ear.

They seriously looked happy.

I drop my hand to my side,about to place his phone back down,when I see who had called

The University of South Carolina,I assume that's the collage he'll be going to.

I sigh placing it back on the small table.I look around the room,running a hand through my hair.

Brent was still sleeping.God he can sleep through anything.

Lucy and Brennan had made a bed on the floor.

Brennan had an arm around Lucy's waist.And his free arm was thrown over his eyes.I heard him get up a few times to go throw up.

Lucy on the other hand was gripping the blanket that was wrapped weirdly around them,and her head was laying on Brennan's chest.

As I make my way over to the couch,thinking I can still get some sleep in.Brennan eyes snap open.

I freeze "Brennan"I whisper,he snaps his towards me.I give him a questioning look.

"Gotta throw up"he gives me a tired smile,I nod my eyes still widen.

He sits up fully unwrapping himself from Lucy slowly,kissing her on the forehead before rushing upstairs and doing what he needs to do.

Poor kid.I sigh

Lucy's POV
"Call me"his voice hoarse,he's not getting any better.

Gabby and I have decided that we were going to go look for prom dresses.And Brent was going to stay here with Brennan since the boys don't really need to go tux shopping they can wear there tuxes from the banquet a few months ago.

I smile,nodding.

I place a quick kiss on his hiring forehead

"You missed "he whispers

"Sorry babe I mean your sick,and I don't wanna kiss you while your sick"he laughs,shutting his eyes again. Just then,Gabby comes running down the stairs.

"Ok ready to go Lu?" I sigh

"Lets go, round 2." Gabby chuckles.I shake my head

I look back at Brennan,hesitating if I should leave or not

Gabby wraps her hand around my wrist,making me turn to her.

"He's going to be okay"she whispers looking past me.I sigh gripping Brennan's door handle and closing the door behind me.

Gabby's POV
We pull up to one of the many dress stores we will be attending today."Wow"I gasp at the size of this store.

"Jeez, we might be here for a while." Lucy gasps as he eyes scan the store. It had to have been at least a football field and a half. We grab our purses and rush in where a receptionist was staring boringly and twisting her pencil.
"Hello ladies, what can I do for you today."

"We are looking for prom dresses"

"Ah I see, right this way." We were lead through a big hall and finally into a giant room full of dresses of every colour you can think of.

I gasp, "holy we will be here for days." I look beside me to see Lucy slowly nodding her head in agreement.

"Well was there anything specific y'all were looking for?" The receptionist asked. We both shook our heads. "Oh well, don't worry it's guaranteed you'll probably find the perfect one here." And with that she walked back to her office.

"Oh heavens I guess we should start looking."Lucy flashes a small smile and we get to work.

Lucy's POV

About I would say 50 dresses later Gabby found one she really loved. It was red, fitted at the top and flowed out from the waist-she looked like a princess in it. Meanwhile, I've tried one about 51 dresses and still can't find the right one.

"I'm convinced that I won't find the right one here, Gabby."

"Hey! Not with that spirit we won't. How about this one." She picked up a blue criss cross top mermaid dress. It looked pretty but it wasn't the right one. I shook my head and bit my lip. "Gabby maybe today just isn't my day, let's come back ok?"

"Ok if you want to, it's up to you." I nod my head and we go pay for Gabby's dress.

We carefully place Gabby's dress in the car and drive away. The whole time we just listen to the radio and I stare out the window. I thought today I would find it. As I'm looking out the window I see a little boutique and this one dress in the window. I gasp.

"Oh my god, gabby turn around."

"What's wrong?! Are you ok?"

"Yes, I just saw the dress of my dreams I that little boutique back there." I squeal and point to the little shop behind us.

"Holy, Lu. You almost gave me a heart attack," gabby puts her hand over her head and turns around.

"Heh sorry." We pull in to the parking lot and enter in. The store wasn't as overwhelming as the other one and it seemed to be empty. I ring the little bell on the reception table. Just then someone who had to be our age peered from the back of the store.

"Oh hi there! I'll be right with you in just a moment." She calls out.

"Ok, while we are waiting how about you show me this dream dress you saw." Gabby says. I nod my head and lead the way to the window. It was the dress right in the middle.

"O. M. G. Lu this is so stunning,"

"Isn't it," said the worker behind us. We both jumped a little. "Sorry about that. I'm Kate. Which one of you ladies are looking for a dress." I raise my hand

"I am. I'm Lucy and this is my bestfriend Gabby. We were driving down this street and once I saw this dress I fell in love." Kate took the dress down and took us to the dressing room. I pulled on the dress and pulled my hair back. I study myself in the mirror and I smiled.

I bring my hand to my mouth,think I might cry.

To bad my brother and granddad weren't here,they'd love to see me in this dress.

"Lu?"Gabby's voice brings me back to reality.

"You okay in there?"I wipe away that I hadn't noticed.

"Yea"I pull open the door,and Gabby's mouth drops.Kate smiles at me.

It's perfect.

Boom dress shopping check.We have some awesome ideas on where part 1 is going,we already started writing part 2 of the book.

But we are on spring break so we are trying to get part 1 finished since we aren't as busy anymore.
