(Hunter's POV)

We visit my grandpa when Mom gets home. We're there for about an hour, and he's actually awake this time. He doesn't talk much, and Riley stays quiet, like she normally does.

We get back home and I sigh as I sit on my bed. "Brooke's on a date, right now." I state. Riley laughs at me, sitting down next to me. "Stop laughing," I say, hitting her arm lightly. "She's my baby sister." I lay back.

"She'll be fine, Hunter," Riley says.

"Yeah," I say, shrugging a little. Riley moves up, and picks my head up, sets it back in her lap. "Hi," I chuckle.

"Hey." Riley runs her fingers through my hair, and I laugh a little.

"I love you," I say. Riley keeps running her fingers through my hair; I feel her tug on a few strands. "What are you doing?"

"Messing with your hair." She smirks a little, ignoring my first statement. I laugh at her.

"Why?"

"Because I want to." She smiles. "Are you okay?" She asks.

"No." I laugh. I sit up, and quickly wrap my arms around Riley, holding her so she can't move. "But with you, I'm as close as I'll ever be," I mutter in her ear.

She giggles lightly, relaxing into my arms. "I love you," she tells me.

"Good," I whisper. I feel Riley shivers when my breath reaches her neck.

"Are you okay?" I ask, chuckling lightly. Riley shakes her head, and rests it back on my chest, closing her eyes.

Time passes quickly. Riley stays on my lap with her eyes closed, and I tap her wrist with my fingertips every so often to make sure she's awake. Eventually, she does fall asleep, but I don't wake her.

A couple minutes past eleven, I hear a car door close. I smirk a little, and pick Riley up. Carefully, I lie her back down, pulling the covers over her. I quietly walk out of my room.

I look out the window to see Brooke and this Josh kid on the front porch. He's got shaggy blonde hair, blue eyes, and is tall compared to Brooke. A dimple forms in his cheek when he smiles at her. I open the door, interrupting what ever they were planning on doing.

Brooke gives me a look that says, "fuck you," and Josh straightens up as if he's meeting her father.

"Hello, sir," Josh says. Brooke and I both laugh at him.

"Josh, this is my brother, Hunter, who enjoys ruining my life. And Hunter, this is Josh."

"Well I'm almost never here, so I might as well ruin it while I've got the chance." I shrug.

"Hunter, you met him, you can go inside now," Brooke says.

I put my hands up in defense. "Okay, okay. I'll go back inside now. Sorry that I just want to be a part of my little sister's life," I say, over dramatically. I walk inside but watch from the window. I think Josh knows that I'm watching because he just kisses Brooke's cheek. Brooke opens the door, closes it, and leans up against it. I continue watching Josh. He waits until the lock clicks to walk away. He laughs, waves to me, then walks back to his car.

"I don't know if I should say fuck you or thank you," Brooke says, smiling slightly.

"You're welcome." I laugh. "G'night, Brooky," I say, using her nickname from when we were kids. I give her a hug, and kiss the top of her head, walking back to my room.

I lay down next to a sleeping Riley. "Goodnight, baby," I whisper, kissing her forehead. "I love you." I pull her closer to me, and close my eyes.
