(Hunter's POV)

I wake in a cold sweat, sitting straight up. Tears are dried on my face. I don't hesitate, I jump out of bed and find my shoes. I don't trust myself to drive a car right now, so I just run out the door.

It seems the more I wipe tears from my face, the more come, so I just let them come.

By the time I get to her house, I'm panting. Sweat drips down my face, mixing with the tears.

I unlock the door with shaky hands, then bolt up the stairs. I open Riley's door. "Riley Ann," I say. I put my hand to her face, and find it warm. I pick her up and sit her in my lap, my face buried in her neck. She smells like vanilla and apples. I take a deep breath, but end up letting out a sob anyways.

"Hunter," she mutters groggily. I hold her tightly to my chest. Slowly, she wraps her arms around my torso. "Hunter, are you okay?"

I just keep crying. "Hunter, if it was a dream, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." She pulls away, and takes my face in her hands. The tips of her fingers are cold against my warm face. "Hunter Edward Adams," she starts, "stop crying. You're okay. It wasn't real. I'm here. So, take a breath, lie down, and we can both go back to sleep." I nod. "You can talk about it in the morning."

"Okay, okay," I whisper. I let go of Riley, and she lies me down. Riley holds my head to her chest, running her fingers through my hair. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "Never leave me, okay?" I whisper.

"I wouldn't dream of it," she replies, softly. "Just go to sleep, Hunter." And with that, I fall asleep in Riley's arms.

I wake up, and Riley's already up. "Good morning, babe," she whispers.

"G'morning, Riley Ann." I smile up at her.

She kisses my forehead. "Are you ready to talk about last night?" she asks, softly.

"I had a dream. I walked in your room, and you were dead. You had killed yourself. I-" I stop. "I'm not ready to talk about it." Riley nods, and kisses my forehead again.

"I'll never leave you, okay. I promise, Hunter." She continues to run her fingers through my hair. "You hungry?"

"I don't ever wanna get up," I mutter, pressing my forehead to her collarbone. She wraps her arms around my head.

"Let's stay here then," she says.

"Okay."

So we stay there like that for most of the day. At some point, I sit up, and reverse the positions. I sit her in my lap, and hold her close. I rest my chin on the top of her head. "I love you a lot, Riley Ann, more than you will ever know. And you may say that I could live without you, but I know very well that I would not survive. So, I'm going to make you promise again that you will never leave me."

She pulls away, and takes my face in her hands. She looks me in the eye. "Hunter, I swear that I will never leave you. I love you too much to leave you." She leans in closer so our faces our inches apart. "Way too much." She closes the space between us, and presses her lips to mine.

Her lips are warm and soft against my own. She smiles into the kiss. "What?" I laugh.

"I don't know." She giggles a little. "I just love you."

"Well, that's sweet, cause I love you, too," I mumble, kissing her again.
