Hottie on board, yum.

Leira POV
We sit on the council steps watching the local merchants setting up for the day’s bazaar. Stalls are being erected and battles fought over who gets to set up where. One fat red faced trader it getting up in the face of a taller thinner man with each point made he thrusts his stomach forward, literally throwing his weight around to win the debate. A small figure dashes across our line of sight. She is dressed in dark clothes; the purple cap she wears covers her face. Judging eyes follow her till she disappears inside.
“Marcus should not have turned away from Slinda like that,” I state.
“Come on Lei, she birthed four abominations in a row with no pure offspring she is obviously tainted. What was he supposed to do?” Margo disagrees.
I don’t like Margo her mind is small and petty. At 5”4’ her appearance is as dull as her mind but Sofi likes her so I am forced to sit and listen to her snide remarks more then I would like.
“Yeah right, why should he?”
“I don’t know maybe because he is her husband!” I stand at the last word using my height to tower over her.
“Why would he want to stay with a defective wife when he could find better?” She stands too but has to stand on the top step to get the same effect.
“Who’s to say the she is the defective one? No one else in her family has had this problem he is much more likely the problem then she. You just don’t like her because she is prettier then you.” I sit down knowing I have won and not bothering to waste any more time on her.
Margo starts to form a comeback when we all stop dead as we see who climbs off of the caravan from the supply airship. At 5” 9’ he is like a giant towering above all the heads around him.
His blond wavy hair was cut just above his collar; one stray lock kept falling in over his left eye. You could see his defined muscles even though his loose top as he helps unload the parcels.
“Yes, please,” I breathe, not caring if I could read him or not, for a face like that I’d make an exception.
“I want,” Sofia breathes.
“Mama likes,” Margo says.
“Mine.” Ariel said with quite conviction.
His mouth suddenly spread into a huge smile and our heart rate speeds up. Dropping his load he walks quickly over to a middle aged women sweeping her into a big hug.
Disappointment is felt by all of us till we heard him say, “Aunty B.”
“You must be hungry dear after such a long flight, come on this way.” Barbra patted him on the arm walking him toward us. She must have seen us all staring in confusion or lust as she stops to introduces him.
“Now dears you all remember I said my nephew Jarad was coming to stay with me for a bit. Jarad this is Leira, Sofia, Margo and Ariel” She introduced, pointing to us in turn. “Once you are settled I am sure one of these nice girls will show you around.”
A chorus of 'me’s' and 'I will’s' emerged.
But Jarad looks straight at Ariel before asking, “Do you have any plans later?”
“I would love to show you around,” she blushes smiling.
“That’s settled then, I will come and find you.” Smiling confidently he turns and follows his aunt up the stairs to her home. Leaving us with a sigh worthy view of his butt as he walks away.
“Yes, please, oh my god! Did you see that face,” Sofi is the first to start.
“God that ass.” Margo is quick to follow,
“We have got to tell the others.” Sofi dashes off with Margo close behind, gossip this good cannot be kept quiet.
“That’s not the evil is it?” I turn to look at her dreamy face.
“No, but I will keep an eye on him anyway...” Her thoughts trail off leaving me stare in at my cousin, hearing things I never believed she was capable of.
~
I was sitting outside my door enjoying the rare breeze when a shadow crossed my face.
“I’m ready for my tour now.”
Turning I see a freshly changed Jarad grinning excitedly at me. As I straighten his smile dims a bit, confusion clouding his eyes.
“You’re not Ariel are you, you’re the other one?”
Not the nicest way to be greeted, but sadly I have had worse.
“No I’m Leira,” I raise my wrists to show off the wide engraved silver bracelets my father had made for me. They are so tight the only way to get them off would be to cut them.
“She’s your sister?”
“Cousin.” Though he was closer to the truth then he thought. Many in the village just assumed father had slept with both my mother and my aunt around the same time, but the truth was much more complicated.
“Come on, I will take you to her.”
We head towards the town square and spot Ariel sitting in the shade waiting.
“Thanks,” he says as he started towards her.
I grab his arm as he goes past, “Hurt her and they will never find where your body is buried.”
He nods once and I let him go. All this thought of revenge has made me hungry.
