Silence.

That's what was heard.

Nothing.

So many emotions flooded through me as I looked at the woman in front of me, holding onto my mate. The woman who claims to be his girlfriend.

I'm angry, I'm confused, I'm hurt, I'm speechless.

I look up at Elijah, whose head is hung low. I plead with my eyes, hoping, praying that he will look up at me and tell me that she's wrong, that she's not his girlfriend. Tell me that he doesn't know her, or what she's talking about.

Nothing, that's what I get. Reminders of our time in the forest wash over me.

"We.. we can't do this Jessica."

I say the first thing that pops into my head.

"What the fück."

"What exactly does that mean?"

"You want to explain to me why you just said that? Because I'm five seconds away from throwing you into a tree!" Gritting my teeth as I wait for his response, but all I get is silence.

Come on Elijah, don't let me down already.

My hopes are up, while I wait for an explanation that seems to be non existent.

"Elijah?"I croak out as my eyes become glossy.

He looks at me with a pained expression, a flicker of regret passing through his eyes.

"What are you saying?" I ask my voice weak and shaky.

Shaking his head, he walks towards me and grabs my hand pulling me with him as he turns to leave the woods.

"No!" I yell pulling away from his grasp. "Tell me what's wrong with you!"

"Nothing" he grounds out "Let's go."

It all makes sense now. He said that because he already had a girl. What a piece of scum, he couldn't even wait for his mate. I don't even know what to think, he's supposed to be with me, I'm supposed to be with him.

I stray away from my thoughts as I hear Stephan's voice. "No Tiffany, she's not my new friend."

She giggles and grabs Elijah's hand, "We have so much to talk about pumpkin" she says smiling at him with her stupid face.

I shouldn't be this weak, I'm not even close to Elijah, I've know him for a couple of days. He can do whatever he wants, I'm just here to protect his pack. It's only temporary, I'm only here for a bit, soon enough I'll be back with my family and Alexis and my dad.

I start to feel the tears coming on. I have to leave before they see me, I don't want to talk to Elijah, and clearly this blonde bimbo doesn't know I'm his mate. Does Stephan even know?

Taking a step backwards, I give my best smile, looking through strained eyes,
"It's nice to meet you too Tiffany, but if you'll excuse me, I have to use the bathroom."

I start walking away, but I realize I don't know where the fucking bathroom is.

"Oh of course! Has Eli here shown you where it is?" She asks. Eli, is that supposed to be some sort of cute nickname? Well it's not. fucking hate it, and I never want to here it again.

"No, sadly due to some interruptions" Stephan says, pausing and looking at me "I haven't had time to show Jessica around."

"Jessica!" She squeals again for the third time, "What a lovely name!"
