Venus POV"Are you sure you guys will be alright here?" I rolled my eyes at Athena's fretting.
"Relax, Athena. We aren't broken. We'll be fine. " She sighed and picked up her bag.
"Alright, but if you need me back here for anything, just give a shout." Donnie came in just as she said this.
"Or like a head voice shout. Actual shouting could cause an avalanche with the snow piled up on the mountain." Donnie checked Leo's shoulder one more time. He had slowly been recovering from his injury over the past couple of days here. Maybe it was the cool mountain air, or the concoctions Donnie had been giving him, but he was starting to look better. Less tired. I smiled softly.
"Alright. That ought to do it. As long as you don't try and lift too much, you should be fine while we are out." Donnie rested his hand on her shoulder. She hugs me and then the two head out.
"I hope they will be alright." I said softly, turning back to Leo as he watched the TV. He chuckled.
"Now you're the one who needs to relax." He pulled me close to his good side and I sighed, casually cuddling beside him.
Athena POV
I followed Donnie towards the front door, where he stooped to grab his bag. I giggled.
"Are you sure you have everything? Do you need me to get anything?" I asked. He shook his head. I glanced at his bags. It was cute he wanted to be all strong and things, but I could help. He could hurt himself. I turned to grab my own small pack.
"You are going to love the caverns. They are especially beautiful this time of year." Don smiled and rested his hand on my shoulder. He did that a lot, instead of hugging me. It was strange.
"You're headed to the caverns?" April smiled from the doorway. Donnie gave her that smile he always did. I don't know why it aggravated me so much. She was human.
"Yeah we are. I thought Athena might enjoy them." He blushed a little. She smiled.
"I wish I could join you, but this artifact has me tied up at the moment." She shrugged.
"Well, if you could I would have loved for you to join us." He said, nonchalantly. I put on a smile, but inside I was slightly hurt. Why does he want her around so much?
"Well, I think it will be more fun for just the two of you. Have fun!" She hugged him. He hugged her back. I turned my head. This was so frustrating.
"Yo April. Your time went off for your cleaner thing." Casey called from the other room. April quickly took off, giving a fast wave to me and then taking off. I turned to Donnie and he was smiling after her.
"So you ready to go?" He questioned as he turned to me. My smile must not have been as convincing as I hoped because he had a curious expression cross his face. "Everything ok?" I nodded and headed out the door, grabbing his hand. He held tight as we headed out towards the woods.
Leo POV
"Leo, can I ask you something?" Venus whispered softly beside me.
"Why are you whispering?" I whispered back. She gave me an amused smile before whispering back.
"Because, I don't want anyone but you to hear me." Her eyes darted around the room. I smiled.
"V, there is no one else around. Splinter is in his room upstairs meditating. Iris and Mikee are out back playing in the snow. Raph and Bellona are off somewhere doing who knows what." She laughed as I rolled my eyes.
"Like you wouldn't love to be in his shoes right now I bet." She gave me a playful shove and I pulled her close.
"Only if you were in Bellona's. But yeah, what are you worried about drawing attention to?" She bit her lip.
"What happened between April and Donnie? They seem so comfortable around each other and I can help it, but Athena's frustrations are weighing on me. I don't know why she is jealous but-"
"Athena is jealous of April?" I watched her curiously. I could tell her mind was on her sister. I loved that she loved her family so much. Our Family.
"Ok. To tell you the truth, yeah they have a little history. And by a little, I mean a whole lot of history." She looked up at me, pressed to my side for the warmth. "April was the first human we met. And as soon as Donnie met her for real, as in talked to her, he was kinda sorta crazy about her. In love with the thought of her. For obvious reasons, they never worked out, but in the end it was mostly Casey."
"Casey?" She looked surprised.
"What? You think there isn't something going on between them? They frustrate each other. They work as a team. And that bugged Donnie. Classic love triangle. Eventually he got over the 'I think I love her' phase and they were just really close friends." I looked at her. She seemed to contemplate that.
"So she basically friend-zoned him?" She said softly. I laughed.
"More like... Turtle-zoned him."
Donnie POV
I could tell something was bothering her since the minute we left the farm house. I tried to give her a little distance at first, but her quiet was really starting to worry me. We were just outside the mouth of the cave when I couldn't take it anymore.
"Athena?" She turned and looked at me, her eyes stormy grey. "Will you please tell me what is bothering you? I feel like you're mad at me for something."
"Why don't you ask April, I'm sure she could give you a hint." I heard her say, barely a whisper. If it hadn't been for the snow, I might not have heard her.
"What? What does April have to do with this?" She walked off into the caves and I ditched my pack closer to the entrance, running to catch up to her. "Don't run from me, Athena. Tell me what is going on. Why are you mad at me?"
"Because of her! You always have this weird thing with her as if you like her or something!" She shouted. I glanced above us, worried about the chance of an Avalanche. She started moving deeper into the cave again. I glanced at her small figure. Why was she so beautiful when she is upset? I ran up to her again and grabbed her hand.
"Are you jealous of April?" I said.
"So what if I am?" She shouted again. This time I heard the telling sound of the snow begin to fall. Athena must have heard it too. We ran back toward the entrance, but it was a bit too late. Snow covered the entrance and sloped in, burying the only way out.
