The sound of my mom singing and the smell of bacon woke me up. Last night's events slowly came to my mind and I turned to look at the now empty chair. I looked around my room looking for Ross and noticed I was alone. Did he leave me?

I trusted him to keep me safe. I stood up, feeling the need to be close to my mom. Being alone wasn't in my 'to do' list. I turned on my heels and saw his guitar standing in a corner. I half smiled.

"Good morning, Maddie." My mom greeted me.

"Morning." I sat down staring at my mom while she was cooking.

I heard a masculine voice behind me surprising me and making me turn my head, just to see Ross sitting on the sofa.

"You thought I left. I told you I wouldn't." He said smiling.

I let out a sigh and smiled weakly.

"Here, dear, have a pancake before it cools." I smiled and took a plate.

"Smells good." Ross said from the sofa. I frowned, worried about him not being able to eat.

He laughed. "It's okay, Maddie, I don't need food. It's kind of a benefit." I poured some sugar on my coffee. "You look like you had slept well." He said, scanning my appearance.

I blushed at the thought of my messy hair, which actually looked more like a nest.

"You didn't even think of brushing it. I like it, it's sexy." He did not just say sexy. "Of course I did." He said, clearly reading my mind. Well, kind of, I still don't get what exactly is that thing he does.

I rolled my eyes at him and took a bite.

"So what are today's plans, dear?" Mom asked me from the kitchen.

"Um, I'm gonna go buy a dress for homecoming with Miranda, Wyatt and Leif." Ross chuckled.

"Oh so Leif asked you to go with him? That's exciting! Just make sure you don't get anything red or yellow. Those colours don't go with your skin." I nodded and took another bite of my pancake.

"Blue, soft blue." Ross said in a low voice, as if he was thinking about it, more than saying it. I kept my eyes on my food.

"I have a date with the computer screen today. The chapter is almost finished and I'm more excited about it than I should." Her voiced turned super cheery as it always does when she talks about writing.

"Or even better, a really pale pink." Ross said behind me and I shivered.

He laughed and then stood up going towards the door. I wanted to ask him where he was going, but I couldn't with my mom here.

"Finally, we can go get food. I'm starving." Wyatt said letting out a sigh.

"Whatever, it wasn't that bad. I mean we managed to find the perfect dresses in less than four hours. I'd say it was quite impressive." Miranda smirked.

Wyatt chuckled.

"No, you took four hours. Maddie had hers chosen after an hour. Leif had enough time to take it to his car and get himself a taco while we waited for you."
