Chapter 10

I take my jacket off and Karina puts my jacket on. Its huge on her. I put my arm around her and we walk out.
Karina: Why was I in the hospital?
Should I tell her? She would be mad at me if I tell her. I just decide to tell her.
Romeo: Well, we were signing papers at Francelys place. And she put a towel to your face and you passed out.
Karina: Did she do anything to you?
Do I tell her about what she did?
Romeo: Yea she just tried to make out with me but I left before she could.
Karina has a sad expression. Is she mad at me?
We get in the car and she looks at me. I turn the radio on. I hold out my hand and she grabs it. She looks at my arm
Karina: What happened here?
Her eyes on on my cut.
Romeo: Um I think I just scratched my self.
I try to hurry to get to the house. So I can give her everything.
Romeo: Are you hungry?
Karina: Not really.
When I get to the house I pick her up and take her inside.
Karina: Wow.
I flex my muscles.
Romeo: How about me and you drive up to Manhattan?
Karina: When?
Romeo: Now
Karina: Okay.
I take her to the car and bring a blanket for her. We drive uptown and in about 30 minutes we arrive in Manhattan.
Karina: Why are there alot of Dominicans?
I laugh.
Romeo: Where?
Karina: Here?
Romeo: I actually don't know
I let out a little smirk. 😏
Romeo: I know a nice hotel we can go to.
Karina: Okay.
I drive to the hotel. When we get there she starts to smile.
Karina: New York is like Chicago.
Romeo: Really?
Karina: Yea but over there its not as crowed.
Romeo: Oh.
I pull up to the hotel and we get out she looks so tired. I walk to her side and I hold her hand. We walk up to the front desk and we make an arrangement for tonight. When we finish I tell her something in the elevator.
Romeo: My moms wake is tomorrow.
Karina: Nancy?
Romeo: Yes. Why do you call her Nancy now?
Karina: Um I saw her.
Romeo: Where?
Karina: Well it was a few days ago and it was in a white place. She was telling me to go to Anthony and then I dont know what happened to her next until this morning.
Romeo: Your heart stopped twice.
Karina: Then I think it was this morning I saw her again and she was noding her head no.
Woah what is this? Did my mom tell her to stay with me? I feel like I have to cry. The elevator opens up and we see the door to our room. She is just looking at me. We walk out. And I go to the bed room. She follows me. I sit there and she puts her hand on my back.
Romeo: Mami can you take this for me?
Karina: What is it?
Romeo: Its a pill so your heart beat will be stable.
Karina: Um okay.
She takes it from my hand and takes it with some water she lays down on the bed. Then her eyes start to close. I look around and I see an Xbox station and some games. I text lenny and Mikey to ask if they want to play a live game so I can no be sad anymore. They agree so we all Skype call and play the game together. Before we do I take my pants off the buttons hurt my skin. And I also take karinas pants off. I want to see her legs. I lay in the bed with her and she wraps her legs around me and lays her head on my chest. My arms are around her and im holding the game controller in my hands. I start playing and occasionally I look down and smile at her I can feel her heart beat.
Mikey: Is that your girl?
Romeo: Yea
Lenny: She looks older.
Romeo: Naw its my baby Karina. She is sleeping.
We go back to playing the game and occasionally we talk about tomorrow and our concert. We play for a few hours. I'm surprised Karina hasn't woken up yet those pills must be strong. As we are playing the game Mikey mess up our strategy to beat the other team. Yes I did yell at him but he kept doing it so I would yell at him more.
Romeo: MIKEY FUCKING THINK!
I feel Karina move. She wakes up. Oh shit now shes gonna yell at me.
Mikey: Anthony you should think!
She puts her hand over my mouth.
Karina: Dont say anything.
She looks like shes half sleeping and half awake. I hang up on Mikey and Lenny.
Romeo: Baby are you mad.
She lays her head on my chest again.
Karina: No you are just really loud.
Her head warms up my chest again. I look down at her. She sniffs me.
Karina: You smell good.
Romeo: Thank you.
I put my hands on her back.
Romeo: I'm not ready for tomorrow
Karina: You will be fine.
Romeo: What if im not?
Karina: You are gonna be surrounded with people who love you.
Romeo: I dont want Francelys to be there.
Karina: Me too.
