2 | Prom Night

"He's here!" Colleen yelled from downstairs.

"Coming!" I yelled back as I started to panic. I practically tripped over everything on my floor trying to get my last minute things ready. I fixed up my light makeup & straightened my ocean blue evening gown. I put on my black lace up heels & went down the stairs as if I was royal blood.

Hayes was waiting by the end of the stairs & he gulped in surprise.

"You look absolutely beautiful Tayler Davids," he said as he grabbed my hand softly. I smiled & looked down nervously.

"You look amazing too Hayes Grier," I giggled softly.

"Oh this is just precious! We gotta take some pictures!" Colleen beamed in excitement as she reached for my Nikon on the table.

"Greg! Get in here & see how beautiful your daughter is!" she yelled for my dad. He appeared in the doorway & had the biggest smile on his face.

"My little bugger's growing up," he whispered as tears began to swell in his eyes.

"Dad," I rolled my eyes & laughed.

"Don't mind him, big softy. Let's take the pictures," Colleen chuckled. Hayes grabbed my waist & pulled me in close for the picture.

"Smile baby," he whispered in my ear. That gave me an instant smile because he knows I love it when he does that.

Colleen took a collection of pictures. Flash after flash, pose after pose, I thought it would never end. After our little photo op, Hayes & I finally left the house & got into his dad's Range Rover.

"Damn classy," I smirked as he opened the door for me.

"Only for my queen," he kissed my cheek & smiled. I blushed & got in. He got in & started driving.

I couldn't believe what was happening. I had been dreaming of this night since I was a kid & now it's happening. With the boy I love most.

We arrived at the gymnasium, bright lights & heavy dancing. Which was surprising because the people here aren't into that type of stuff but I guess since it was almost graduation, they were gonna make the most of it.

Hayes led me through the sea of people & found us a decent place to chill.

"Grier! Davids!" I heard a voice call out. Then Daniel appeared in front of us.

"Skye!" Hayes & I both yelled & we all laughed.

"Good to see you two. How's Mr & Mrs Grier?" Daniel smirked & chuckled.

"C'mon Dan," Hayes laughed & punched his arm, "we're good, how is the single eagle?" Hayes shot back a sarcastic smile.

"Haha very funny," Daniel rolled his eyes, "jokes on you, I actually have a date. She's by the punch bowl. Davids, why don't you go there & see who it is," Daniel smirked & pointed.

"Alright. I'll go," I laughed & left them. I walked up to the bowl & saw Mckinnley getting some punch.

"Mckinnley!" I screamed & hugged her from behind.

"Hello weirdo," she laughed & turned around to hug me, "you look stunning Mrs Grier."

"God why does everyone call me that?" I rolled my eyes & laughed.

"Because we all know it's gonna happen one day," she explained.

"Oh well you look amazing Mrs Skye," I smiled & tilted my head.

"Oh shit. How did you find out," she shook her head & drank her punch.

"I didn't. I just did," I chuckled,
"He told me to go the punch bowl to look for his date. Now blink twice if you're doing this against your will because last time I checked you hated Daniel. Like hated him."

"Well," she started, "I was lying. All through high school I had the biggest crush on him, I just didn't wanna show it because I thought he'd play me like he did to other girls but turns out he actually likes me," she was blushing hard & smiling really big. Which isn't usual for Mckinnley.

"Aww, Mckinnley! I'm so happy for you," I smiled & hugged her tight.

"Thanks Tay. We've already gone on two dates & damn. He is amazing," she smiled, "his heart, his body & his lips. Make me wanna do back flips."

"Never ever say that again Mckinnley," I practically died of laughter.

I grabbed two cups of punch & went back to the boys with Mckinnley. I gave Hayes his cup of punch & Mckinnley did the same with Daniel & a kiss too. That's when Hayes' jaw dropped with disbelief.

"When did this happen?" he asked in complete shock.

"Two weeks ago young one," Daniel laughed & held Mckinnley's hand, "meet Mrs Skye," he smiled & kissed her hand.

"Wow. Congratulations you two," Hayes said & raised his cup. We made a toast & pretty much danced the night away.

It was the last song. Hayes & I held each other close as the music played faintly. There was pure silence in my ears, I had been transported to another world where everything was purely serene. I loved it & I loved the fact I was in his warm, protecting arms.

"Baby," he whispered.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Again, I'm sorry for everything. The time I treated you like shit, that thing with Anastasia, the lies. Just everything. I told you the truth that time & I'm telling you the truth now. I love you & I would never do anything to hurt you," he looked at me with deep set eyes & his eyes appeared glassy.

"Babe, I forgive you. Sure it hurt like hell back then but now I'm fine & I love you more than ever," I stroked his cheek.

"I really love you," he whispered & before I could say anything, he kissed me. It felt like the stars had fallen from the sky & they were surrounding us in a kaleidoscope. It was magical.
