Tayler

"Have you done that assignment yet?" Mckinnley asked as I watched her scurry through her locker.

"Yeah. Why?" I asked.

"I obviously didn't do it," she chuckled.

"Of course you didn't," I rolled my eyes & laughed.

"Gimme," she urged & grabbed my book from my locker.

"I guess my little bad ass forgot to do her homework again," a voice shouted from across the hallway. We both turned around to see Daniel, same as always.

"I am a bad ass. Just not yours," Mckinnley smirked & flicked Daniel's forehead.

"But you've got a good ass," Daniel smirked & looked behind Mckinnley.

"Oh God Daniel," I rolled my eyes. We all sat down on the bench just outside the cafeteria.

"What are we waiting for?" Mckinnley asked as she did her assignment & chewed her gum aggressively.

"For Hayes to finish football practice," I smiled.

"There he is now," Daniel said & pointed to the team walking in. I smiled & stood up & approached the bunch of guys.

A clutter of 'whoos' & whistles came immediately. I was standing behind Hayes, who was arguing with Patrick, one of his teammates who he despised.

"Look Pat, at least my girlfriend isn't a dimwitted cheerleader like yours. Hell why does Kate even waste her time!" Hayes yelled.

"Grier, you've cross the line!" Patrick yelled back. The team was holding him back to avoid a fight. I grabbed Hayes' arm & gripped him tight.

"Baby you don't have to take this," I whispered. With that, he got out of my grip, stared at me & stormed away. I was left there, speechless.

Hayes had just pushed me off, for the first time & I couldn't believe it.

"Tay," Mckinnley ran up to me & hugged me tight, "it's okay. Pat just pushed him off the edge, it wasn't your fault."

"I'll go talk to him," Daniel offered & ran after him.

"C'mon kid, let's go. We can get you some Inside-Out," Mckinnley pinched my cheek.

"Okay," I sighed & we walked to her car.

Hayes

"Bro wait up!" I heard Daniel call from behind. I stopped in my tracks.

"What do you want?" I asked crudely.

"Dude what the hell was that back there? Throwing Tayler off like that. That's not right," he reprimanded.

"But Patrick," I wailed.

"But nothing. That is your girl out there, she was trying to calm you down. Like she always does," he explained.

"Dude," I rolled my eyes.

"Gees you even roll your eyes like she does! Now tell me, what was that all about?" he asked as he punched my arm.

"The guys..." I started.

"Go on," he insisted & raised his eyebrow.

"They called me out for 'not going out with a cheerleader' & they called Tayler out," I uttered.

"Ah really man. You shouldn't listen to them! Tayler is an amazing girl & I've known her forever & I've known you forever & this isn't like you," he explained, "I'll tell you what. Go to her house tonight & surprise her & just make her night."

"I get it man. I'll make her happy with the things she loves," I smiled.

"Yeah & when she's weak, you get into those sheets!" he yelled.

I laughed myself into a fit, "Daniel, wow. You will never change will you?"

"Nope," he smiled.

"Aye thanks man. You really helped me out," I smiled & started walking.

"Anytime man. & don't get into any shit with Anastasia again. You know how much Tayler hates her," he elaborated.

"Yeah never again," I shook my head, "how's things with you & Mckinnley?"

"Ah man she still won't give me the time of day. & the thing is, I don't wanna play her. I really like her," he groaned & ran his fingers through his hair.

"Well maybe you should show her man. Instead of hitting on her the fuckboy way," I explained, shrugged my shoulders & left.

I guess I left everyone speechless that day.
