I changed out of my work clothes into more comfortable, casual clothes, and walked back to the living room, grabbing my keys off the counter.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"I need to talk to Gia," I responded. She stood and walked out the door with me.
"Why?" She asked as we walked to the car.
"You'll see," I said.
We drove in silence and I practically ran into the coffee shop.
"Hi beautiful," Rafe called from behind the counter.
"Is Gia here?" I asked. He nodded and I went to her office, knocking before stepping in.
"Hey Kari. What're you doing here?" She asked. I scratched my forearm.
"Umm, I came to ask you something," I said. She smiled. "Is there any way that I could possibly get a couple days off next week.
She shook her head. "I'm sorry hun. We need you here until we find someone to take Lesley's spot."
I sighed. "But my best friend is coming to town."
"I'm sorry Kari, I can't." She said. I stood and turned back around, walking out to the front.
"Why are you frowning?" Rafe asked.
"I need a couple days off next week and since Lesley quit I can't have them," I responded. Gia laughed.
"Kari, there's like, at least twenty other Starbucks in Dallas alone, he won't come to this one."
"Who?" Rafe asked.
"No one," I responded and walked back to my car. Please God don't let him show up here.
