Alex's Pov

"What am I going to do, Drew?" I asked completely exasperated. I had lost it when Kelsey saw me with that girl. I didn't even know the girl that came onto me, but it was funny to watch her try to be seductive.

She looked as if she had been hit in the face with a branch, but what made it worse was her breath. It smelled like she didn't even know what a toothbrush was! It was so ridiculous for her to even try that it was hilarious to me. Of course, I could see how boys on campus found her attractive, but she wasn't my type. What can I say, I like them feisty.

"You let some other girl hit on?" Drew Neal, my best friend of five years, questioned with a laugh.

"Yes, I get it. I wasn't thinking."

"Thinking? You weren't even seeing the problem with that!"

"I think it's a psychological problem that you find this so funny." I said, poking fun at the fact he was a psychology teacher.

"Oh come on man. That's a cheap shot." I could imagine him raking his fingers through his short black hair and even over the miles I'm sure he was rolling his eyes at me over the phone.

"Just help me out on this one. You owe me." I said, reminding him that I got him together with his wife, Miranda.

Drew had fallen head over heels from the moment he saw Miranda in the quad of our college. He literally tripped over himself and landed face first when he shot up and asked if she had seen him fall. She hadn't, but I still told him she did. He did everything to get her attention, but what he didn't know is that she was my cousin.

I convinced her to pretend he didn't exist, even though she really liked him. He worked so hard to get her and of course when he asked me to help him out I told Miranda to start falling for him. To this day he thinks I have the magic touch and Miranda thinks that I helped her land the perfect guy. One day they may figure it out, but I'm not going to tell them so I have no idea how they would find out except if they talked about it, which I doubted would ever happen.

"I don't know what to do Alex. You're the one that always could work the ladies."

"Yeah, but you kept them. How do I keep her?"

"Well, from how I hear it she is pretty pissed and Miranda would take her side. So let's see what she says." Drew said as there was interference with the cell phone connection.

"Hello?" I heard a female voice question.

"Hi Miranda, it's Alex."

"Hi Alex! It's been such a long time!"

"Yeah, Christmas was like three months ago." I said sarcastically. Miranda sure acted like a blonde; about as dumb as the stereotype.

"Drew tells me you're having a problem with a girl and that you cheated on her?" Miranda asked as Drew fed her the information incorrectly.

"I didn't cheat on her. This girl hit on me and was about to kiss me when Kelsey walked in and saw it."

"You were going to let that other girl just kiss you?"

"No, I had told her that I was seeing someone and that just made her more aggressive in her approach."

"That isn't how Kelsey is going to see it." Miranda explained.

"Who's Kelsey?" I heard Drew ask in a whisper.

"That's the girl, now be quiet." Miranda said. I could imagine her kissing his cheek while she said it so that he wouldn't get his feelings hurt.

"Miranda shut your husband up for a minute and tell me what to do." I said getting annoyed with their lovey-couple stuff even when I didn't have to see it in person.

"It's easy, just take her somewhere on Spring break. She's obviously upset that whatever plans she had fell through."

"How do you know she had plans?" I asked suddenly confused on how she had figured that out.

"She's a girl in college. She had plans and I can guarantee it wasn't to go home or stay at school." Miranda said with an annoyed tone.

"I don't even know where to take her!"

"It's Spring Break! Just don't take her home!"

"My home or her home?" I asked confused by her statement.

"Take her to the beach! It's Spring Break!" I heard Drew yell over the phone.

"Shut up!" Miranda groaned.

"No, that's a great idea! We could go to Florida and I wouldn't have to worry about running into anyone I knew." I said while still talking into the phone, even though I meant to say it to myself.

"Why does it matter if you see someone you knew?" Miranda asked quizzically.

"I just want to have her to myself." I said smoothly, but it was a little too late because Miranda had already connected the dots.

"Alex, tell me you didn't."

"He didn't what?" Drew asked, suddenly interested in the conversation again. I could imagine his eyes growing with wonder as his curiosity got the best of him.

"Don't tell him!" I practically yelled into the phone. "Yes, she is one of my students, but Miranda, you don't understand. She is amazing and the passion between us is explosive. I think she could be the one."

I was shocked at how sincere and easily that came out. I hadn't thought of ever finding the one. I had had some awful dates in high school, lots of broken relationships and one girl just fell out of love with me. My prom date had hair the size of Texas because in the early 90's the teasing hair was still considered fashionable.

"Fine, then I wish you the best of luck." Miranda said, choosing her words very carefully around Drew.

"I may need it. How does the Florida Keys sound to you?"

"Like heaven on earth."

"Thanks Miranda. Be sure to keep your nosey husband out of the loop. I don't want him scaring this one off."

"If you think I can hold him off, you're wrong." She said with a chuckle before she held up.

I only need you to hold him off long enough for me to win her back over. I couldn't lose this girl; she already meant too much to me.
