I was so happy to have come to the Florida Keys with Alex. We had gone to the beach, gone snorkeling, eaten amazing food, traveled the seven-mile bridge and even had our feelings grow deeper. Now for the last day of our trip, Alex said that he had a surprise for me and I couldn't help, but get excited.
"What are we doing today Alex?" I asked once he joined me down stairs at lunch.
We had spent so much time enjoying each other's bodies last night that we had gotten minimal sleep and had to sleep in today. I woke up an hour ago because I was so excited, but I had let him continue to sleep since he had even been up late the day before planning our snorkeling trip.
"We are doing stuff." He said clearly choosing his words carefully.
"Like what kind of stuff?"
"Has anyone ever told you that you can act like a hyperactive child?" Alex asked jokingly as he slid into the seat in front of me and placed his hands on mine.
"I'm sure they have, but it doesn't effect me."
"Pity, it would have saved a lot of explaining."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you have to wait to see what I have planned for us today. It's our last day alone before we have to get on a plane again. I want it to be special."
"Why is that?" I asked with a chuckle.
"That way when you space off in class I will have a good feeling that you're at least thinking about me." He said smoothly.
"Fair enough, but I want to know now!"
"You sound like a kid right before their birthday." He laughed.
"Then give me a hint."
"I don't need to," he said glancing at the clock behind him. "It's time to go now. So let's go."
Alex quickly pulled me out to the car that he had been using this whole trip. He said it was Mary's, but as long as he refilled the gas she agreed to let him use it. I think she liked me and was happy to encourage us to act like kids. Alex drove quickly and swiftly with a grin on his face as he bounced excitedly in his seat.
It was about five in the afternoon and I had no idea where we were even going. Alex had told me about this plan of his when we came back from snorkeling yesterday, but didn't give any details, which left me highly curious. We had been up until seven this morning, and I hadn't gotten to sleep until eight because I was so curious.
"Where are we going?" I asked again causing Alex to chuckle.
"You've asked that at least three times and I haven't answered."
"Well if you answer it I will stop asking."
"You'll find out shortly, just wait."
"I hate waiting; I'm impatient."
"I can tell." Alex muttered under his breath.
"I heard that."
"It would have been wasted if you hadn't." Alex said flashing me a smile.
"Rude." I stated as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Thanks, you just gave me an even better view." Alex stated as he parked the car. He must have caught my confused look because he pointed to my chest and I glanced down to see that by crossing my arms I had pushed my boobs up.
"You don't deserve such a good view."
"I think you'll change your mind once you see what I have planned."
"How so?" I asked following him out of the car.
"Because this is something worth seeing." He said slipping my hand into his as we walked along the grassy strip.
Alex glanced excitedly around us as we continued to walk toward the ocean. He led me up to the cliff where a picnic was set up about fifty feet from the ocean below us.
"I thought you would like to watch the sunset with me while we had an early dinner. Then maybe we could go back to our room and have a replay of last night."
"Including the lack of sleep?"
"We can sleep on the plane." Alex answered smoothly as we sat down on the blanket that had been placed on the ground below my feet.
"I think we could, and if I fall asleep in your class you can give me a detention." I said jokingly.
"I would give you more than a detention." Alex said serving my food for me. He must have cooked it himself because I couldn't tell what it was. So I just smiled and ate what he set in front of me.
Too be honest, it had almost no taste, so no matter what I was eating I couldn't complain. Although, it didn't have any taste because it was burnt, although I would rather have it be burnt then have to choke on it. I swallowed it as fast as I could as the sky started to get dark.
We ate chocolate cake, which Mary had made, until the sun fully set. I had see the sky change from a dark blue to a mix of purple and pink until it finally became a deep red that flashed out of the sky in an instant.
"Wow, it's beautiful." I said as I watched the sky turn to black and stars started to sparkle in the sky.
"Not as beautiful as you." Alex said as he leaned in to kiss me.
His lips smashed to mine in a needy passion as he rolled on top of me. His elbows resting near my head as we deepened the kiss. His body molded to mine as a phone started to ring.
"Is that my phone?" I asked confused as I recognized the ring tone.
"Yes." Alex growled angrily as he dug in his pocket, not moving from his position, to get the phone.
"Why do you have my phone?"
"Because this jackass kept calling and I didn't want him to ruin our week together. We are getting your number changed when we get back to campus, and the service too if we can."
"Who's calling?" I asked, taking the phone from his hands and looking at the number. "Of course, Caleb. Let me deal with this."
"No," Alex growled, "I'll deal with this."
"Alex..." I started, but he had already picked up the phone.
"Stop calling, she isn't yours anymore. You don't control her and you don't get to keep harassing her. We are putting in for a restraining order and then you will not be able to come within at least a thousand feet of her. Stop calling, because this is considered stalking and harassment and I will call the cops. Leave my girlfriend alone!" Alex growled as he slammed the phone shut.
"You're girlfriend?" I asked with a curious smile as he turned the phone off completely and put it in his pocket again.
"I can't help how I feel about you Kelsey. If we do this, it has to be a secret and nothing can change on the outside."
"So I can't be seen with you on campus?"
"No, and you can't keep coming after class, even to study. It will get suspicious."
"I can handle that." I said confidently as I buried my face into his chest and for the first time in two years felt truly safe and happy again.
