*BEEP BEEP*
"Hey! Watch where you're going lady would ya!"
The words seemed to go into one of Adeline's ears and come out the other. She was aware of the grown middle aged man yelling at her from his car, but in reality she didn't care.
The grown man had almost ran her over as she crossed the street, which isn't uncommon in her hometown of NewYork City, but Adeline just carried on as if she didn't have a care in the world. Truthfully, she didn't have a care in the world, but it's not something she could help. She just couldn't care, no matter how hard she tried.

Adeline is 5'5 Seventeen year old senior at Brooklyn Tech High School; even though her school was in Brooklyn, she lived in Manhattan. She had brown hair with black highlights that fell to her waist and eyes to match, though they seemed to change color every time you saw them. She was slim, and her body was well defined and tone as results of being captain of her track team at her local Rec Center. She even had lips that resembled the pale pink of an old rose, and the softness to match.
As stunning as she was, Adeline always turned down every guy that tried to ask her out. She was severely introverted, not to mention she had been hurt before so she had severe trust issues; plus she was never attracted to any of those guys.
Due to her ways, many people saw her as odd, which resulted in her getting picked on. She was teased, called names, and left friendless; but mostly because she turned down anyone who tried to be her friend.
With all of this you think she would have a care in a world, but she didn't. She was too stuck in her mind for her own good, and ironically, she couldn't care less that she was.

"Hey Freak! Why don't you give a dam about something for once? You almost smudged my car! PAY ATTENTION YA HEAR!" Those were the grown mans last words before he drove away in a furious rage. Adeline watched as the car drove off, hearing nothing but his last words: "PAY ATTENTION YA HEAR."
"Pay attention..." Adeline mumbled to herself.
As much of an asshole as the man was, Adeline realized he was right, she should pay attention.
From there Adeline absentmindedly walked to Central Park letting the words echo in her head.
"Pay attention"
Once at the park Adeline sat on the bench by herself continuing to think about the mans' words.
"Pay attention" she whispered to herself.
"Pay attention" she repeated but this time a bit louder.
With saying the words out loud to herself it was like she had stepped into a whole new world, for once she actually bothered.
She looked up at the tall trees in the park and she paid attention. With the silence around her, she listened with intent and heard something that was so new to her. She heard the birds chirping, all different sounds all different songs. She's heard it before, but she never really listened. She loved it. Along with the songs, she heard the sound of the wind pick up, with the rustling of the leaves to follow. She directed her attention to the tree tops, where she noticed what used to be the pale green of the leaves is now a dark orange and auburn red. It was Autumn, and she hadn't even noticed. Upon this realization, Adeline started to feel chilly, she was only wearing a black long sleeve shirt, a pair of dark jeans, combat boots, and fingerless gloves.
Upon this sudden feeling, Adeline decided to gather her books and her school bag and head to her favorite coffee place; which was pretty ironic considering she hated coffee, but they made amazing Hot Chocolate. Luckily, that was convenient for her, since the small shop wasn't too far from the park.
It was only about Ten minutes until Adeline reached the coffee shop: Drinks And Things.
She admitted it wasn't the best name for a coffee store, but it was the best place to get a hot drink and to relax with a homey feeling.
Within moments upon arrival, Adeline took her usual seat in the far corner towards the back of the store where she usually remained out of sight, and for the first time, she saw the shop in a whole light.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Please note that "Drinks and Things" is not an actual coffee shop in NewYork. It's just a made up place within the story.
