EmeraldI woke up to find Fish laying next to me peacefully asleep, I rolled over with a smile on my face knowing he was next me. As soon I as I rolled over I looked at the clock on my night stand and closed my eyes. Then I jolted up in my bed startling Fish. It was 9 in the morning.
"Crap! I'm gonna be late!" I got up and ran for the bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth and showered. Running back into my room, I pulled on some undergarments, a pair of ripped jeans and a red long sleeve shirt. I put on a sweater, grabbed my keys and purse on the way out and shouted goodbye to Fish.
I was halfway down the hallway of my apartment building when I stopped in my tracks. "Dam it."
I ran back inside of my apartment realizing I didn't feed Fish. "Sorry bud, mommy's in a rush today."
After feeding him I ran out the house and nearly ran the courts, which was way past Central Park and ten more blocks once out of the park. After I got about a quarter way through the park I realized I forgot to call in at work to tell them I was going to be late. I stopped to catch my breath and call the café.
"Hello?" I heard the owner of the shop, my boss, say after the third ring.
"Yea, hey Bethany. It's Emerald."
"Emerald? Where are you? Why aren't you here? Is everything ok?"
Still panting, I took a few seconds to respond. "Yea I just woke up really late and forgot to call in to tell you I'll be late...uh well later. I have to go to the courts and-"
"Say no more, I'll cover for you until you get here. Just be careful ok? with that she hung up. I was so grateful she understood, but not as grateful as I was that my mom made me take track in high school. Who knew it would actually come in handy. Now here I am a twenty three year old woman running like my life depended on it to finalize a divorce. What am I doing with my life?
Adeline
It was 7:30 Monday morning, I didn't have to be to school until 10 because of some morning program they were doing today, so I decided to get up a little early so I could stop by the café. As I walked into the shop I sat down at my usual table impatiently waiting for Emerald to come take my order.
"Morning Hun, what can I get ya?" As I looked up confused to see an older red head with a southern accent.
"Morning... Um not to sound rude, but where's Emerald? I was kinda expecting her."
"Oh she's not here right now hun, I'm sorry. Can I get you something though?"
Not wanting to seem rude I gave her a slight smile and ordered a small hot chocolate to go. She happily took my order and was back within minutes with it. I gave her the money I owed and a three dollar tip and took my leave.

I got to school and sat in my classes like it was any other day, accept it wasn't any other day. I couldn't focus on anything my teachers were saying, and honestly I didn't particularly care. I was just hoping Emerald was ok. All I could think about was her brown eyes and how I could kill just to see them right now, reassuring me she was ok.
*Ring* *Ring* *Ring*
At the sound of the school bell, I got up and was the first to leave the class. I was the first to go since I was closest to the door anyway. I walked through the halls minding my own business, just constantly thinking about emerald as I made my way to my next class.
