I followed Chip back to her office mildly mad. She acted like I was in trouble when she and Haley were the ones keeping something from me about Zoe. WHO WAS MY SISTER.
We walked back to a room and she walked in a room and sat down in a chair, not knowing what else to do I did as well. One of the most awkward moments of my life was sitting as there as she watched me like I murdered her parents.
Eventually she spoke, "So are you planning on staying here?"
The calm tone and even question itself shocked me, "I, I don't know, I'd have to ask Zoe."
Her expressions soured, "It's not really her choice is it?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Offended I crossed my arms and sent her a glare of my own.
"Zoe's a lost cause."
"EXCUSE ME?" I stood up but she stayed with a calm expression that made me want to punch her teeth out.
"Kristy she's worse off than she lets you see," she stood up ignoring my sound of offended protest and took a picture and slide over to me. I looked down and saw and x-ray picture. "There's a piece of her bone missing and newsflash, Haley can't fix it. She'll never be able to run again and she's worthless to me, she's just wasting supplies."
I looked up from the picture and stared her in shock; she actually dared to say that, directly to my face.
"What, exactly, are you saying?" I hissed through gritted teeth.
"I'm implying it would be easier for all of us if she wasn't here, my people don't need supplies being wasted. What if someone useful gets hurt?"
I believe at this point my self-control deserves an applause because instead of leaping across the table and shoving her out of that chair I just made my tone threatening and smiled, "I'm sure your 'people' would love to hear how you talk about the disabled."
She looked at me and I saw barely restrained fury so it seemed we both at each others throats, "If," she began equally threatening, "you prove to be a threat to my leadership, I have other ways to get rid of you...or Zoe."
She pulled her knife out and fiddled with it looking at me with a silent promise, "You're dismissed."
I stared at her not believing she was that, just, here's what was going through my head, Endless screaming.
"I'M DISMISSED? YOU CAN'T DISMISS ME, I'M NOT YOUR PUPPET TO ORDER AROUND."
I wound up walking out anyway slamming the door behind me because I had to get to Zoe. I ran back through the tunnels all the way to the infirmary and burst into the hospital room. "HALEY!"
Haley turned around startled, "What??"
"LET NO ONE IN TO SEE ZOE."
She stared at me confused, "I mean I can do that for everyone except Chip. I can't stop her unless Zoe's in intensive care."
"NO, ESPECIALLY CHIP."
"Why?"
I turned and ran out to get to Zoe's room and heard Haley call after me, "KRISTY!"
I ran to Zoe's room and busted open the door, "ZOE!"
She looked up eyes wide and she jumped from where she was in her bed, "W-what?"
"CHIP IS EVIL, E V I L." She stared at me. "SHE THREATENED TO KILL US; YOU CAN'T LET HER IN OR ANYONE."
Zoe looked disbelieving, "Why did she threaten us?"
