I really enjoyed writing this chapter a lot. Like more than usual.
Like a lot.

I hated cooking.

Ok maybe that was a slight exaggeration. Cooking wasn't my favorite thing was a much better thing to say. In fact, if it wasn't for the constant threat of cholesterol clogging my arteries from too much greasy takeout food, the fact that I needed to keep my figure and remain that I didn't always trust already made salads from Whole Foods, I probably would have eaten takeout all the days of my life.

But sadly health was a priority. And I didn't want my shiny granite kitchen to go to waste, so I'd made a rule that I cooked at least twice a week and no more than that. And since I mostly thrived on salads and nuts, it was no real problem. The only down turn was that I had a very limited knowledge of recipes which I never actually considered a real problem before.

Well, that was until I'd invited Jason for dinner at my apartment and had no idea what to cook.

Then my ignorance had become a real problem.

The funny thing about it all was that during the actual conversation, I was confident and sure of myself. Jason said that he'd had more gigs than he'd anticipated during the week so he barely ate anything other than hotdogs and subs. And I, being in trying to be caring, blurted out that I could make him dinner on Saturday as a treat for all the hard work he'd done. Specifically, beef stroganoff and crab salad which he'd mentioned was his favorite.

Jason's breathy thanks and compliments made me smile until I dropped the call and realized that I had absolutely no idea how to cook any of the dishes he'd mentioned. After a panicked call to Jay who laughed at me for a painfully long time, I searched the internet for any decent recipes.

"Should I just ask for your apartment number at the lobby?" Jason asked on the phone as I stirred the spices into the sour cream.

"Yeah, the guy in front will direct you right to my apartment." I replied tapping the stirring spoon on the rim of the pot.

I couldn't help the nervous feeling in my chest as I anticipated his arrival. It was because I missed him and wanted our second date to go well, but mostly because I'd never cooked for anyone before and didn't want my first time to go wrong at all. Jay would definitely laugh his ass off if I ended up killing my date.

Sooner than I'd expected, there was a soft knock on my door. Throwing the tea towel into the sink, I ran to the front door to unlock it while nervously patting my clothes on the way. I opened the door to see Jason's soft smile waiting for me.

"Hey." He said.

"Hi." I replied moving forward to place a light kiss on his lips. Taking the initiative, he deepened it placing his hand on the nape of my neck to pull me closer. Something inside of me coiled intensely and I let out a small moan before finally pulling away.

He cradled my cheek "I've kind of been thinking about that for a while. Sorry."

"I was the one who attacked you in the first place." I said with a cheeky smile. He laughed "It's ok. Good thing I really don't mind."

I pecked his lips again "We should probably go before the food gets cold."

"Good idea." He said following me into the apartment. I walked into the living room "Feel free to sit anywhere you like." My L shaped couched was quite spacious which was where he sat while I went to the kitchen to get our food.
