Katelyn's POV:"What are you doing here?!" I yelled softly, praying that he hadn't been completely brainwashed.
I pretended I had no idea what had happened. I wasn't supposed to be home that day when they broke in, asking for him and the rest of my brothers.
"I'm on that guard mission Ivy, remember?" he answered back.
"Oh, yeah, now I remember, " I lied, pretending to know what he was talking about, even though I knew what really happened that night, just a few hours ago.
I remembered what other people were whispering about before:
The guards broke into our homes late at night....Be careful....They brainwashed them.....They use magic and control them.......The guards will take your brothers.....
I thought they were just rumors, but now, I wasn't so sure. Some of what they said had already happened, but was all of it really true? It was hard to think about.
I went down to the bottom deck of the ship and found myself a dark corner to hide in. I didn't have many belongings, heck, I didn't even know what I was doing or where I was going. The only thing that was clear was that I had to get away from O'khasis. I had to get away from my brother.
Sure, I wasn't seasick, but something was ominous about this ship, and it made me nervous. My brother was the last person I expected to see. It pained me, but I knew I had to move on from everything that had happened, and even if I had no idea what I was doing alone on this dangerous ship, I couldn't turn back now.
I suddenly felt nauseous and dizzy. There was something weird about this ship, and I didn't like it at all. Sure, maybe I was tired, but there was something else bothering me. There was strange magic in the air, especially surrounding my brother. He seemed off, and didn't recognize me at all. Maybe the rumors were true.
........and who's Ivy......?
