WARNING: This chapter contains the following: Blood, The use of weapons, Murder, and some scenes that may be classified as mild violence. Read with caution at your own risk.Staggering backwards in fear and shock, I dropped the knife and let it fall onto the floor, but held on to the hastily written note, my hands still shaking. I pressed my finger gently against the ink on the letter. When I lifted my finger from the paper, some of the words were smudged and the drying blood had stained my fingertip. There was no doubt about it, this was definitely blood, something that was a part of my past I would rather forget. Although messily scrawled, the note was written in almost perfect O'khasian cursive, a way of writing everyone from O'khasis practices and takes pride in, even if it is written in blood. They just have to be perfect at everything, don't they.
Clearing my head, I picked up the knife and scanned the room for possible hiding places I could stow a knife. Unable to find any decent hiding spots, I tore the bottom half of my shirt up, wrapped it around the knife, and kept it in case I needed it, even though I already had my weapons. Examining my hands and clothing, I now noticed that some of the blood had dripped of the knife and had begun to dry and stain. I cleaned up the blood as best as I could, while still moving hastily. There was no time to waste, I needed to check on Travis and make sure he wasn't murdered in his sleep or something.
My heart was still pounding in my chest, my hands and working too fast for my brain to even register what was going on, working all just by instinct, and blocking out any thoughts. Finally satisfied with my somewhat cleaner clothes, I ran immediately to where Travis was, trying to forget about my bloodstained clothes and the fact that O'khasis was hunting me down.
Finally reaching Travis, I saw that he was safe and had gone to sleep. I let out a huge exhale, not even noticing I had been holding my breath the entire time. He was still breathing and wasn't harmed, thank Irene. But if he wasn't harmed, then that means someone else was. I had to make sure the civilians of the village were okay, although with O'khasis around, no one usually is, which frightened me the most.
I knew it was dangerous to go outside, but something told me I had to make sure the civilians were safe. I grabbed a black hoodie that Travis let me keep and made sure it covered my stained clothing before going outside. So much time had passed while I was frozen in place by fear and trauma, and the night was fading already. It was that time of day where it was light outside, but the sun wasn't out yet, when it wasn't day or night.
Thankfully, it was light enough outside to see, so it wasn't hard to find the victim of the murder. Double checking my clothing to make sure my bright icy blue hair and bloodstained clothing were covered, I ran up to a woman who was on the floor mourning over a dead body that was lying next to her, covered in blood.
Trying to ignore the fact that the body was covered in blood and pretending ignorance, I asked the woman what had happened.
"T-there w-were guards.....in armor....and they asked him w-where t-the house...of Travis Valkrum was," she replied, stuttering and pausing in between words, still crying.
(Spelling of Travis' last name from the Aphmau Wikia page at aphmau.wikia.com )
Just as I thought, the guards from O'khasis must've questioned people before and have been tracking down Travis and I.
"Go on," I stated, hoping to find out more information.
"H-he resisted at first, b-but then they....they took out a k-knife covered in blood....saying that they've killed many of t-the o-other.....people in t-the v-village."
I nodded in response as she continued her weeping and stuttering, the rest of her words not making sense. Without a word, I dashed off and left her to her mourning. Thankfully, it was dark enough that she didn't see the stains of blood on my clothing. I still couldn't believe the fact that there was a note written in fresh blood. A murder had just occurred a few hours ago. They were on my trail, and it wasn't going to be pretty.
((So so sorry for this really bad chapter .·(>▂<)·. I tried to make it as long as I could and delayed it since this was a crucial turning point for the story. Not particularly proud of this chapter, I did rush this story a lot and I'm really sorry for the bad writing and unplanned-ness of this chapter. Please don't kill me......(>_<) I'm sorry...))
