"Forestia, what is wrong with you?" Neeko asked gently as they made their way towards their rooms.

The way he spoke grated on her nerves even more. He tried to grab her arm but she twisted out of his grasp. She sped up her walk in order to place herself in front of him and gain some distance. Realizing that he wouldn't receive an answer, he spoke up again.

"What did he say to you?"

Take a hint and leave me alone!

Vesper cast her angry gaze to the ground unwilling to meet Neeko's concerned one.

"Forestia! What did he say?"

"Nothing! Leave me alone for slockvey's sake!"

Vesper turned and tried her best to stare daggers, but her heart just wasn't in it. She didn't want to hurt him, but it's not like she could say, "Hey, he was just taunting me about all my insecurities. You know how that goes."

He returned her stare but it was filled with even more compassion, as if he knows exactly what she's going through. It pissed her off even more.

"You need to talk about it to someone. You can't keep it bottled up inside. Trust me, it's best if you get it out."

"Best for who? Me or you? " Vesper said with her anger rising.

"Best for you! What is that even suppose to mean?"

"We're enemies now."

"We aren't enemies right now. Grow up."

"Don't tell me what to do."

He guffawed. Actually guffawed at her.

He was reminding her so much of Stephen. It made her both angry and sad. His stubbornness was exactly the same, but the fact that he actually cared about her is the thing that threw her off. It was making arguing with him increasingly difficult.

"I have friends I can talk to. I don't need you." The sharpness she spoke with, reminded her of how Stephen talks to her.

Not that she would tell her friends, but he didn't know that. His golden eyes reflected pain for only a moment but it quickly disappeared.

He gave a small chuckle."How rude, I never said me. I said someone."

A strong wave of guilt washed over Vesper and immediately she knew that she was just being immature and pushing away someone who is just trying to help. He was trying to turn around the mood. Stephen would have tried to make it worse. To crush her under the weight of her own feelings.

"sorry, Steph." She muttered.

Again. I did it again. Stupid! Hopefully he doesn't-

"You called me by that name again. Is your memory really that bad?"

Never mind.

She turned to face him and sighed. She realized that nothing she could do could make him stop being a good person without dissolving their friendship. She looked at him with a defeated look in her eyes just begging for him to let it go.

"It's alright. I understand." He itched his read headband atop his sandy blond hair. "I know we have literally just met, but I know that look you had on when you were beating that man. Whatever he said, was something completely out of line and it got to you. Listen though, people saw that and now they are going to know that all they have to do is get you to go out of control and they'll win the fight. When you fight, you can't think about outside things, you have to focus on what's in front and not your emotions."

He's right. But I know I'm gunna hear those words in the next time I see - her.

Not that she wasn't appreciative of the advice, she was, but she knew that Delighla was going to chew her out as well. She internally groaned at the thought of it.

"Thanks for everything."

"No problem." he asked playfully.

"And thanks for this." she said with a sly grin sliding on her face.

"For what?" he asked playfully.

She reached for his headband and pulled it off. The motion in itself was compulsive with no meaning behind it other than being playful. His eyes widened in horror as two ears were revealed. Two fuzzy, spotted cat ears. A tense silence filled the air as neither of them said anything. Vesper was confused so  she held out her hand offering the headband back.

His carmel skin tone turned pale and he viciously snatched his headband out of her hand. His hands shook as he clenched his fists.

"Don't touch me. Ever. Again." He spoke with a sudden hatred.

He shoved her into the wall without saying another word, unlocked his door and then slammed it shut. Anger replaced her emotions yet again. Everything was building up and his response couldn't be stopped from stabbing her dead center in the heart. Recently, things were beginning to feel as if she was carrying weights. Those weights and problems just kept piling up on top of her all slowly then all at once. So many things to do, to learn, to understand. It's overwhelming.

Vesper walked into her room and fell on her bed, face first. Her back hurt from hitting the wall. She wasn't expecting it, and that's why she hit it so hard. The stale air in the room filled her lungs. Somehow, she fell asleep in that position and woke up to Sala poking her in the side repeatedly. They all had smiles on their faces but Vesper could tell that they were concerned for her. She sighed.

It was a problem that Vesper always faced. She loved her friends and she trusted them with her life,  but she didn't want to burden them with her problems. She didn't want to talk about herself because it just seemed so selfish to her. But, this is also a major contributor to why she is so stressed out. That is why she kept everything bottled inside, which made everything even harder to talk about.

I really should talk to them more. They are my best friends after all.

"So, what happened was, the guy wearing the turban was taunting me about the village that got attacked. About how the people were killed and it made me sick to my stomach. "

"Then he deserved it." Sala shrugged.

"He was disgracing the dead. A few punches to the head will probably give him good reason to learn some manners." Charlie chimed in.

Vesper rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment. She should've known that they'd understand.

"Sorry guys."

It still doesn't feel right...

"Don't apologize for being stupid. That's my thing." Trenton said while nudging Vesper in the ribs.

They all laughed and Vesper forgot her worries and all the bad things seemed to melt away.

Haden looked at her and smiled. "Anyways, the real question is how you managed to fall asleep like that?"

"Ya, and how did you manage to breathe?" Trenton quickly followed up Haden's question with his.

"To answer both of those questions, I have no idea." Vesper said with a brief chuckle.

Charlie opened his mouth and then went on to explain all the science and technicalities in order to answer their questions.

If it was the only thing in her life that she could count on, is her friends to be there for her to pick her up when she falls.
