~Chapter 39~

??? POV:
I don't understand why I'm still on this planet. I could die right now. But half of me is pleading me to stay alive. For them. For my friends.

Serena's POV:

I lightly slap Ash for his actions then flop back down on the bed, facing away from Ash.

Ash: "Hey, c'mon."

I then turn to look at him because he kept whining like a dog.

Me: "Hey Ash?"

Ash: "Yeah?"

Me: "Do think that it's possible for me to go outside, instead of just staying here?"

Ash: "I guess, only if I'm around to watch you."

I then leap out of the bed.

Me: "Then let's get going!"

Ash then leads me outside, going through long and twisted hallways. Once we make it outside, I finally get to breathe fresh air.

??? POV:

I hear people walking around, their steps getting louder and louder. I want to leave, but my body is making me stay down. I have no choice. This is what I get for staying alive. Once their footsteps sound like they're right in front of me, I turn to look. Only to see a friend.

Serena's POV:

We heard some noise in an area so we walked over. Once we got over there, a surprise awaited us.

Me: "C-Calem?"

I rush over to get to him, but Ash holds my wrist, stopping my motions.

Ash: "Wait!"

I turn to look at him, with worry filled in my eyes

Me: "What?"

He comes closer. He speaks quietly in my ear.

Ash: "I've been told not to let you be in contact with anyone but the people in Team Flare."

Me: "Why?"

He shrugs

Ash: "Boss's or-"

Me: "To heck with that!"

I break out of his grip, and go over to him.

Me: "Calem! Is it really you?"

He looked like he was in shock. Out of the blue, tears started streaming down his face. He looks down and covers his face with his hands.

Me: "C-Calem?"

Calem: "I'm so stupid...I left them...and now they're..."

Me: "What?"

I try to touch his shoulder but his slaps my hand down.

Calem: "Don't touch me! I'm a monster who left my friends for dead!"

Me: "Wha-? Ash, what does he mean?"
