Chapter 43

After the odd phone call with TJ, I sat there for a few seconds letting the past few minutes' process and I suddenly felt a really bad feeling in my gut. I pushed myself up off the couch and waddled as quickly as I could into the kitchen where Jenna was busy making food.

"I'll be back as soon as I can, TJ called saying I needed to go back to the house, it sounded serious so I'm going now. Just leave my food on the side and I'll heat it up when I get back." I told her before quickly making my way to the hallway and slipping on the first pair of shoes on that I saw as fast as I could (as putting shoes on with a massive bump is a lot more difficult than it sounds) and grabbed my keys and phone before rushing out to my car and quickly backing out of the drive way and speeding down the street to Craig's.

After 20 minutes of crawling through the rush hour traffic I finally found myself back outside the house, which I had only been away from for just over a day. I was barley out of the car before TJ was rushing out of the open front door and to my car. He opened my door and helped me out of the car not saying anything to me, I barley had time to lock up my car before he was dragging me into the house where I was instantly hit with the strong smell of booze and fags which made me gag.

He dragged me through to the living room where I was confronted with a horrid sight of beer bottles and cans all over the table and Craig lay face first on the couch, all around him screwed up balls of paper littered the floor. Georgette was knelt beside him trying to wake him up. I broke free of TJ's grasp and joined Georgette by Craig's side. I frantically shook his shoulders and was relieved when his eyes opened. "What the fuck is all this!" I exclaimed once he'd managed to sit himself up.

"Yeah dude, you scared us." TJ added, Craig put his head in his hands and didn't respond.

"You're going to end up killing yourself Craig! Please stop this! You need help!" I pleaded pulling his arms down and forcing him to look at me.

"Nah I wont! I'm good!" He slurred.

"No Craig you're not. It hurts me so much seeing you like this-"

"Why'd ya leave me then?!" He exclaimed making TJ and Georgette gasp.

"You guys aren't together anymore?" Georgette asked stunned.

"We got into a fight yesterday, things got serious and I said that it would be better if we were apart for a while." I explained briefly.

"What do you mean 'things got serious'?" TJ asked suspiciously.

I took a deep breath in. "Craig got pissed, said some things and kept trying to grab me and eventually he slapped me."

"YOU HIT HER?!" TJ yelled to Craig who didn't flinch.

"Right Amber, lets go, I'll drive your car back to wherever you're staying. You don't need to see this. I'll text you telling you where I am so you can pick me up when you're done." Georgette said to TJ who nodded trying to keep his cool but I could see he was fuming.

"Please Craig, listen to us we're trying to help you!" I pleaded, he said nothing, and he didn't even look me in the eye. I sighed feeling tears forming in my eyes before I followed Georgette out of the house. Just as she shut the door I heard TJ's shouts from inside, which made me feel like crap knowing that I may have split their band up.

Georgette got in the drivers side of my car whilst I lowered myself into the passenger side. "I'm stopping at Ronnie's." I told her as she pulled out of the driveway. We sat in silence for a few minutes the only sound was the music playing from the speakers.

"Don't worry doll, TJ will knock some sense into him." Georgette said reassuringly as we drove back to Ronnie's house, I just nodded still in shock from seeing Craig in such a bad state.

"Do you think I over reacted?" I asked about 5 minutes later as we pulled up to some traffic lights.

"God no! If TJ hit me I'd leave him straight away and never look back!" She replied quickly. "Craig has to learn that he can't keep going out every night and drink himself into oblivion, especially if he has another child on the way. I'll tell you now, TJ will manage to break through to him and he will get the help he needs. You shouldn't be dealing with all this stress, not now especially with the baby so I don't want you stressing out about this okay?" She told me as we pulled up outside Ronnie's house.

"I wont." I said, but I knew that it was a complete lie.

"Good, things will work out in the end, you and Craig were made for each other, even Gabby says so! You'll both have forgotten about this whole thing about half a year from now and you'll have your son with you by then. Not everything is grey forever okay?" What she said then really hit home, and a small smile found its way onto my face as I thought about what life could be like six months from now. I hugged her in thanks before we got out of the car (well I had help from Georgette) and headed inside where Jenna was sat watching TV. When she heard us enter she sat up and rushed over hugging me.

"Oh god! I was so worried! What's happened? Are you okay? You look really pale!-"

"Jenna!" I exclaimed stopping her bombardment of questions. "I'm okay, Craig spent the past 24 or so hours drinking, smoking and wallowing in self pitty. TJ's round there now talking with him so Georgette is here till he picks her up." Jenna nodded and led the way into the living room.

"Oh Ronnie called, he said that they should be getting here at around 3 tomorrow afternoon and I hope you don't mind but I told him what's happened with you and Craig."

"Jenna its fine don't worry about it."

"He was pissed, like majorly pissed." Jenna told us, didn't really surprise me Ronnie had always been protective over me especially when it comes to relationships.

"Well TJ's already laying into Craig now so the last thing he needs is a raging Ronnie storming around there calling him all the names under the sun." I said. We didn't really say anything else, we just sat and watched the TV for about an hour and a half until we heard a knock at the door.

"That'll be TJ." Georgette said getting up to answer the door. We heard the door open and a couple seconds later Ronnie came storming through however when he saw me his face instantly softened and he crouched in front of me.

"He didn't hurt my nephew did he? Cause he's gonna get his arse kicked twice if he has!-"

"Ronnie! Please! TJ is already on ass kicking duty, please don't go round there it'll make things worse." I still saw the fire in his eyes. "Please Ronnie, for me?" He was silent for a few minutes before he nodded. "Why are you here anyway? You weren't supposed to be here until tomorrow."

"Cut the show short, I couldn't not be here for my sister. What happened anyway?" He asked sitting on the spare space on the couch. I told him everything that had gone on the night before and how Craig had been found by TJ and Georgette practically drinking himself to death, Ronnie just shook his head.

"He's lucky that you're talking me out of kicking his arse," He muttered.

"Yeah well you better not either. I'm going to bed I'm shattered." I announced, Ronnie helped me stand up and walked me up the stairs as much as I protested that I could walk myself he wouldn't listen. Georgette said that she'd tell me how TJ got on in the morning but to be honest I didn't really want to know, all I wanted was for Craig to wake up and realize how stupid he was being and sort himself out so that we could be happy again.
