/LUKE/
I fucked up. Aly probably hated me. When I get shitfaced drunk, which isn't too often, I do really fucked up things. I cannot believe I did this though. I tried chasing after Aly but the alcohol in my system didn't allow it.
I stumbled back to the house to find Calum. Standing on the front lawn was Michael and Crystal. They looked like they were arguing, and when I moved closer I could hear the words.
"Crys that was seriously fucked up!"
"Oh c'mon Mikey, I gave the bitch a little show." Crystal smirked.
"No Crystal, you might have just screwed Luke over big time."
"He's got that right." I stepped into their view.
"Oh there you are." She strode over to me, draping her arms around my neck.
The smell of tequila on her breath reeked, but I'm sure none of us smelled any better. "Get away from me." I removed her grip.
"Lukey babe chill out.'' She slurred.
"No I won't chill, you might have just ruined the best thing in my life." I was feeling so many different emotions flowing through my body. Anger, hurt, regret, guilt.
"How the hell can that...little girl be the best thing in your life Luke, you've known her for what, four days?"
"3 weeks. I've been the happiest I have ever been these last 3 weeks." I said through gritted teeth.
I walked around her towards Mike, who had backed away from the scene. "Where's Cal? I need a ride."
"Ash and him went looking for you. I'll text them and let them know, I'll drive you."
Michael had sobered himself up at one point in all this mess. We started towards Michael's car which was parked down the street a bit. Crystal had followed us and tried getting in the backseat.
"What the hell are you doing?" Michael asked annoyed. He stood beside the driver's seat door and I by the passenger.
"I'm coming with you." She stated like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"You've done enough Crystal." I spat, slamming the door shut as Michael sped away from the scene.I directed Mikey to Aly's house. We had driven around town looking for her. She hated her home and I didn't think that's where she would be, but with no sign of her anywhere I went as a last resort. Aly hadn't yet explained to me why she hated her home so much, why the look in her eyes when it was mentioned was a look of fear.
I scrambled out of the car when Michael pulled into the driveway. Her bedroom light was on, but she might have left it so she could sneak out. Her parents looked to be home so I had to think of a lie, as a reason for being there.
There was no covering up the fact that I had been drinking, and they probably wouldn't approve. I knocked on the door repeatedly until I heard a voice call: "I'm coming!"
A man opened the door, rubbing his eyes, as it was very late. "Who the hell are you?"
"Uh...I'm a friend of Aly's. Can I see her, please?" I slurred.
"No she's grounded, and you need to go sober up son you're pretty damn wasted."
"Please...just let me see her, this is important." I begged, I was desperate.
"Whatever, she's upstairs in her room." He moved aside letting me in, I made my way up the stairs. Sending a quick text to Michael saying he could go and I'd walk home, I knocked on her door.
When there was no answer I tried pushing it open, but it was locked. I looked around wondering if she kept a spare key anywhere. I felt above the door and sure enough I felt a key resting on top.
I let myself into her room and paced back and forth waiting for her return, and pondering what I would say to her./ALY/
After an hour of sitting at the tree, I made my way home. It was quite tiring walking from the party to the tree, and back home, but it sobered me up.
I'd decided that Luke and his friends were just bored and felt sorry for me and that's why they've been hanging out with me. I should've known that Thea was the only person I could count on, the only one I could trust.
I somehow managed to climb the tree up to my bedroom window without killing myself, and entered my room. When I saw the tall slim yet broad figure pacing near my door with his hands on his head, talking to himself, I shrieked.
He turned to face the window, a hint of tears stained his cheeks. I pulled myself fully inside, shutting the window. He moved towards me, but I backed myself against the wall. His movements halted.
"Leave. Now Luke." I ordered.
"Please Aly just let me explain.."
"I don't need an explanation, I saw everything." I crossed my arms. I could feel tears sting my eyes, threatening to spill over.
"Alyse...please darling." He pleaded.
"You're drunk Luke." I spat.
"Yeah I'm drunk, and I'm pissed, and I'm upset, and I hate myself for fucking up the one good thing in my life."
"We've known each other for about a month, you barley even know me."
"That's not true and you know it," He argued back. "Aly I'm so, so sorry. I fucked up, but I didn't mean it, I didn't mean to hurt you."
"But you did." I growled. "You hurt me, and you promised you would never let anyone hurt me, you promised you'd protect me, when you should've been protecting me from yourself."
He looked at the floor. I saw a single tear fall from his eye. I wanted to reach out and hold him, run my fingers through his blonde locks, wipe the tears from his eyes. I could feel myself crying as well, I tried to fight it but it was no use.
We avoided each others gaze, Luke kept his eyes focused on the ground, I watched my fingers as I twisted my rings. Moments of silence felt like hours.
When I heard Luke choke back a sob I looked up at him. He now stood with his face in his hands, he stumbled over to the bed and sat at the foot of it, steadying himself with the mattress, letting himself be vulnerable for once.
The sounds of him crying like that shattered my heart to pieces, especially since I was one of the reasons. I hesitated before moving around the bed, and kneeling before him.
I cupped his cheeks in my hands, I wiped away his tears with my thumbs. "Luke, you're okay, you're alright."
"No...no I'm not. I fuck everything good up, I ruin everything. I always wish for a happy ending, but for some reason I can't have it!" He wouldn't make eye contact with me. "You must think I'm a mess." He muttered, barley under his breath.
"No," I whispered. "You're just...you're like me, broken."
He slowly dragged his blue orbs up to meet my brown ones. "I'm really fucked up Alyse, and you're the only thing that makes me feel like I can get better."
A few more tears escaped my eyes. I leaned forward and pulled him into my embrace. I held him tight against me, until I felt his arms wrap around my waist. "We can fix each other Luke." I whispered, running my fingers through his hair. I pulled back slowly, until our noses were side by side, and all we could see was each others' irises. "We'll fix each other." I whispered again, letting our lips attach like magnets.
After the most intense kiss of my life Luke pulled back, a small smile forming across his lips. "Let's lie down and forget the world, yeah?"
I nodded, my hand rubbing soothing circles on his chest. "Let's forget it all."
With that Luke pulled me onto his chest, wrapping his arm around me firmly. The sound of his beating heart put me to a deep and peaceful sleep. I was safe in the arms of the only other human being who understood me.A/N: well that was quite emo. I know this took a while for me to update and is short but I wanted to make sure I knew how I wanted this chapter to play out. Please let me know what you think by commenting how you feel ab this chapter or the book in general. Aly and Luke give me the feels bc broken boy meets broken girl. (See what I did there).
