/ALY/
Luke and I both just stared at the screen of my cell phone.
"Aly..." He mumbled after a long silence.
I honestly didn't know what kind of information Trevor could be talking about. I mean he's a manipulative liar after all.
I shut my phone off and tossed it aside. Then I turned around in Luke's lap so I could face him. He was tensed up and wouldn't make eye contact with me.
"Hey," I whispered, tilting his head up. His eyes reluctantly met with mine and that's when I knew there had to be something he was hiding. Just the way he looked at me gave it away.
"If you're hurting....if there's something, then you can talk to me. Just know that I'll listen without judging you. Luke I care about you and I want to be here for you."
He nodded and rubbed small circles onto my hips. He tore his gaze away from mine and let out a sigh.
I traced small designs on his chest as I waited for him to do something. That's when I saw tears well in his eyes, but before they could fall he blinked them away.
"I d-don't want you to think I'm a freak..." He whispered, staring at something on the other side of the room.
"Luke I could never think that about you." I traced his lower lip with my thumb.
"You'll hate me." He sighed.
I cupped his face and held it in front of my own so he was forced to look at me. "You befriended me when I was ready to end my lonely pathetic life. You sheltered me from a terrifying home, and you protected me from the horrors within it. You made me smile when I've barley done so in three years. You made me open up instead of isolating myself from everything and everyone. Luke Hemmings, you made me feel again, and I could never hate you....I couldn't even imagine it."
That's when he let a single tear roll down his cheek. He smiled a bit but it quickly faded. He rested his forehead against my own. If one of us even flinched our lips would be touching.
"When I'm r-ready to talk about it. I'll let you in." He mumbled. "But please, do not meet with Trevor."
"I won't." I sent him an assuring smile.
The rest of the day was strange. It was relaxing, just being lazy together, but Luke wasn't there mentally. At one point he fell asleep on the couch.
Something I noticed about Luke was that he was tired a lot. Even when he was out being active I could see it in his face that he wanted to rest.
He slept stretched out on the sofa with his head in my lap, as some Lifetime movie played on the television. Lately he had stopped wearing the quiff and left his hair flat. I ran my fingers through it lightly and silently chuckled at his light snores.
Deciding I should make him dinner I carefully slid out from under him and off the couch. I put a lasagna in the oven, and just sat in the kitchen reading a magazine.
Eventually I heard whimpers and whining coming from the living room. When I went in to check on Luke he was clearly having a nightmare. His face had a panicked expression on it and he was shaking.
I knelt down beside him. "Luke, hey Lukey wake up it's just a bad dream." I cooed.
He kept tossing and turning. "Luke c'mon wake up." I shook his shoulders.
His eyes fluttered open and he stared at me with a bewildered look on his face. "Wh-what..."
Pulling him into my arms I moved up onto the sofa. "You're okay." I whispered.
He didn't say anything, he just held onto me tight. I rubbed his back and whispered soothing things to him. For some reason he loved it when I read to him so I whispered a monologue from one of my favorite books.
Soon we ate dinner and returned to being couch potatoes. Luke was in a seemingly better mood.
"You seriously suck so bad at video games." He laughed, barley even trying to beat me in whatever game this was.
"Sorry I like to read and write instead of sit in front of an xbox." I smirked.
"It wouldn't kill you to play a little more video games. That's all I'm saying." He grinned.
The apartment door burst open and Calum came storming in. It startled me at first but I knew the other boys had their own keys. Without uttering a word he plopped himself down on the other side of me and let out a huge sigh.
Luke paused the game and we both stared at him with curious and amused smirks. Calum's eyes stayed glued to the screen until he noticed it wasn't doing anything. He rolled his eyes. "What?" He snapped.
"You uh...you alright there buddy?" Luke asked, holding back his laugh.
"No. No Lukifer I am not." He pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Well what's going on?" Concern was laced in Luke's voice.
"This is your fault. " Calum turned to glare at me.
Of course it was. I never caught a break. However I was completely clueless as to what I could've done.
"Uhm..." I muttered.
"A while back you brought that girl, well Thea, into my life and ever since I haven't been able to get her out of my damn mind."
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. He wasn't actually mad at me, okay good. A small smile spread across my face because I knew I saw something between them.
Luke beamed. "Awh does lil' Cal have a crush?" He cooed.
"Shut the fuck up," Calum reached across me to shove Luke. "I have been trying to dm her over twitter for days and I can't think of what to say without embarrassing myself."
This was actually adorable. Calum, who has the easiest time getting any girl he wanted, was nervous to talk to my best friend.
"Thea is a very easy going girl, I'm sure anything you say will be fine." I smiled.
"I don't want it to be fine I want her to be amazed by me!" He groaned.
Seeing him so frustrated over this was very amusing. He put his head in his hands and made weird animalistic noises.
"Calum you've never had self esteem issues with girls before," Luke said. "Like never before."
"That's why I'm so irritated. She's so damn pretty and her feisty attitude is just downright hot. We could literally sass people together...all the time. We could party together, and be sarcastic in public." I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"As her best friend, I do know that she is interested."
"What?! I swear to god Aly if you are fucking with me..." Calum literally jumped out of his seat.
"I'm not fucking with you. She really is interested in you. She told me you were really hot and funny, but she said you could get any other girl you wanted. Well she could get any guy she wanted but she doesn't believe me when it comes to fun pretty boys like you."
"OH MY GOD SHE TALKED ABOUT ME?" He smiled the biggest smile.
"Yes Calum Thea has talked about you." I chuckled.
"Be. My. Wing-girl." He pleaded.
"Hey I thought I was your wingman?" Luke whined.
"You've been replaced by someone with far better skills. Sorry not sorry. Next." Calum's tone of voice didn't even falter.
"Get shitted on in my own house Jesus Christ." Luke smirked, shuffling into the kitchen.
