I struggled to find the snooze button as the alarm kept going off.
Ughh, fuck it. I got up and headed for the shower.
After handling my hygienes, I fixed myself a bowl of Captain Crunch.
Then, I grabbed my backpack and my keys and headed out to pick up Ryan.
On the way there, I decided to call Quan.
It rang, but I got no answer. I called again for the same result.
I sighed.
I'll just talk to him at school. I pulled up to granny's house, got out and knocked on the door. I waited, not trying to get hit with a bat.
"Who is it?" I heard my granny say through the door.
"It's me."
"Who is me?"
"Ronny." I replied.
"I don't know any Ronny." She said.
I sighed. "It's Ronald."
She opened the door smiling. "Hey baby."
With me being 6'5 and her being 5'2, I bent down and gave her a hug. "Hey granny."
She let me in. "Ryan, you almost ready?" Granny yelled up the steps.
"Almost!" Ryan yelled back.
I sat on the couch as the news was on. I glanced at the tv and saw the weather man reporting rain today.
"How have you been Ronald?"
"Good Granny. Always good."
She was gonna ask something else, but something else caught her attention.
"Breaking News: There was a robbery last night in the home of a man named Thomas Grey. He and his daughter Callie were both shot. Their bodies were found last night at approximately 11:30 by the victims' wife/mother at the bottom of the steps in the home." She pointed behind her to their house. "The man, is dead according to investigators while the little girl lays in critical condition in Memorial Hospital. Police have no leads yet, but we will keep you updated. I'm Gina Gaston, back to you Tom."
Granny shook her head. "These people are crazy! Killing a man and his little girl for what? Some crap to sell at the pawn shop?"
"I don't know Granny. Some people just don't care." I said, playing innocent.
"You got that right... Now what was I gonna ask you?" She took a second to think. "Oh yeah! You courting?"
I scrunched my face up. "Am I what?"
"Are. You. Courting?"
"HUH?" I was so confused.
"You know what I'm saying Ronald! You got a girlfriend?"
Who says that? "No ma'am, I don't."
"And why not?" Granny asked, putting a hand on her hip.
"Relationships just aren't for me right now. Or ever."
"Rona-"
"I'm ready!" Ryan said, skipping down the steps.
Thank God.
"Welp, it was nice talking to you Granny!"
"This conversation ain't over Ronald. You hear me."
"Yes ma'am." I looked at my watch.
"But it's time to go. Talk to you later, Love you!"
"Bye son. You and Ryan have a good day at school."
