Charles' POV
I ran to the car, opening the back-seat door and standing aside so that Erik could carefully place Lily inside and help her with her seatbelt.
Once that was done, I slipped in beside her and closed the door, watching Erik round the car before getting in the driver's seat and starting the engine.
Erik was smoother with his turns, showing he was trying to make the ride as painless for Lily as he could while I sat in the middle seat, helping to keep her upright.
Finally, Lily seemed to notice how her body kept falling into mine and made a conscious effort to lean on the door, her head resting against the window.
I watched as she reached a hand up, touching the window, and I stared amazed as the wounds on her hand began to heal before my very eyes.
"Incredible!" I laughed suddenly, startling her and Erik.
"What now?" Erik asked, in more of a bad mood than normal, though I didn't care.
"Her mutation, it's somehow using the sunlight to regenerate healthy cells," I told him, a wide grin stretching across my face. "Her injuries are healing themselves!"
Erik adjusted the rearview mirror to see for himself and watched with a sense of awe as Lily began to heal herself.
"Pull over," I instructed, getting Erik to do just that. "Help me get her out. The more sun she gets the better off she'll be." I said before getting out of the car.
Working together, Erik and I managed to pull Lily out of the back seat and while Erik carried her, I quickly took off my coat and laid it on the ground.
"Put her here," I said, gesturing to the area I had dropped my coat on, giving Lily a dry space on the snowy slush.
"Are you sure about this?" Erik asked, unsure.
"Look at her, Erik." I prompted, and he did, looking down at the girl in his arms as she closed her eyes, the smaller scratches on her body closing and vanishing as if they'd never been there in the first place.
With that, Erik gently put Lily down on my coat, allowing her to lay in the sun as he stepped back with me.
Together, Erik and I watched in wonder as a sort of golden shimmer appeared around Lily. Her hair gave off a shine it didn't before, and even her eyes seemed to glow bright yellow.
The gold shimmer glowed brightly on the particularly injured places on Lily's body, flowing over her in an ethereal way, and at some points, it almost looked as if the light was pouring out from inside her. It was a truly beautiful sight to behold.
A few minutes later, the light seemed to die down and Lily's eyes closed before fluttering open again, this time back to their normal brown.
"Feeling better?" I asked, finally finding my voice.
"Much," Lily spoke for the first time, smiling slightly as Erik and I blinked in surprise.
"Well, good-I'm glad." I smiled as well before frowning when she began to shiver. Thatmade sense, her clothes were still dripping wet and now she was practicallylaying in the snow.
"Goodness, you must be freezing." I sighed, moving to help her up.
"Ah!" Lily yelled, falling into me and I immediately took her weight for her.
