It had passed three weeks since Carole and Marco started dating, for real. It all looked like a dream and both were happier than never. All their friends and family were also happy to see them finally together. Marco's mom wanted to through a party and invite all neighborhood, Marco had to convince her that she couldn't do that because for the outside people they were already together for some time. Even though they were dating, Marco felt like Carole wasn't telling him something. He could see that she sometimes was secretive about something, he just couldn't put his finger on what was it.
In the other part of town, Carole was in her office talking with her dad, who was furious because she still hadn't talk with Marco about the pregnancy. Marco was the dad and he should know that she was caring his child. Plus, Albert knew if there was one person that wouldn't react badly to knowing that she was pregnant was Marco. That boy loved children more than anyone he knew.
"Carole, you can't keep this going. It's been three weeks, honey." Her dad told her, he was sat across her desk, trying to convince her, to tell the truth to Marco.
She sighed, biting her lip. Carole knew her dad was right, she couldn't keep this going and sooner or later she was going to start to show. " I know, dad. I know...but what if he gets mad? What if doesn't want this baby like I do?" She asked the same questions again, her insecurities always raised when she talked about telling Marco about the pregnancy.
"Carole, sweetie, once and for all, his not going to get mad. He's going to love to know that his going to be a father," his father pleaded. He had talked to her about this almost every day since he realizes that she still hadn't told Marco about the pregnancy. " Besides, you can't keep this for long...sooner or later your going to start to show."
"I know," she muttered, breathing in and out slowly to calm her. This not telling Marco and being afraid of doing so was putting her in a lot of stress. She then said, " I...I'm afraid of his reaction, dad. You know that. I just...I can just simply waltz at home and say, ' look, Marco, I'm pregnant'."
"YOU ARE WHAT?"
Carole looked at her dad but then realized that the question hadn't come from him, it had come from another person that was at her door. She looked up and saw Mats with the most stunned face she had ever seen him doing since she had known him. Carole jaw dropped, seeing him in there...she hadn't seen that coming.
--
Albert had left the office, leaving Carole and Mats alone. He still looked stunned to know that she was pregnant and Carole...well she still didn't know how to feel about this all situation.
"You're pregnant?" He asked curtly.
"You should have knocked first," Carole murmured as he closed her door and walk to her, sitting where Albert had just been.
He rolled his eyes and calmly said, " Caro, just answer the damn question."
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes. Then, when she opened them, looking straight at Mats eyes, she confessed. " Ok, fine. Yes, I'm pregnant. One month and a week."
Mats jaw fell, " One month? Marco doesn't know about this, does he? I'm betting he doesn't because otherwise he would have told myself and the rest of the team." He tried to make sense of everything that was happening, he knew both persons very well. " Why haven't you told him? I mean, is there a possibility of being Edward's baby?"
Carole shook her head, " No, there isn't. I got pregnant after, it is 100% Marco's."
"Then why haven't you told him!?" Mats asked with a slightly accusing tone. He couldn't understand why had she told Marco that she was pregnant. "God, Caro. How long have you known about this?"
"Three weeks," she revealed. " Mats, you don't understand...we just start dating. I'm scared of his reaction...I'm scared of him thinking that I let this happen to screw his life or to gain something out of this. You know your friend, he sometimes says very irrational things when he gets mad. I don't wanna get hurt."
Mats sighed, thinking that Carole was making just a big movie out of this. They were talking about Marco for Christ, he would never be sad, accused her of something or run away from his responsibilities. He had too much integrity and he loved kids. " Carole, why are you even worried about that? You've known him all your life, you even know him better them me, better than anyone. He would never think those things, in fact, he would love you even more. He loves children and you know, as well as I, that becoming a father is one of his biggest dreams. It always has been."
"Mats, it's not that. I just..."
He cut her, " It's just what? It's just your mind playing tricks with you. You have to tell him, Carole. After all, sooner or later your not going to be able to hide it. Carole...I've been your friend for years, and I'm telling you to trust me on this. He's going to love it and your going to tell him tonight, after the match."
"No, no...Mats...I can't." Carole shook her head in denial and fear.
Mats smiled and softly nodded, " You can, Caro. You know you can...your not leaving big of a choice after. I'll tell him myself if you don't. You've been dragging this for three weeks already..."
"Fine," she gave up, feeling more nervous than ever. " I'll tell him after the match and now, please stop making more stressed. It's not healthy for the baby."
He put on of his hands on top of hers, reassuring her. " You don't need to worry about anything, his going to love it and you deep know it...relax."
"I'm trying," she gave him half a smile.
"You know," he started telling. He wanted her to be less nervous and also lighten up the mood. " That son of a bitch of your boyfriend is going to be a dad first then me. God dammit, we're like children, so he made a bet...and well now, thanks to you, I'm going to pay up quite a lot of money. It's really a lot."
Carole chuckled, " Mats!"
The computer is back, and its working...so it means that all chapters are going up NOW!
