In a space of less then 48 hours, Carole's life had made a very big turn. She and Ed ended their relationship, tho they hadn't talk about that but they both knew after last night it had pretty much ended. She also got hit by him, found out he had a 10 year-old child with her teenage best friend...and now, according to the media she was dating Marco Reus. Yes, everything was a complete mess.
Marco finally parked his car the parking lot of the training center, the ride had been quick but it seemed to be longer because it was so much tension in the air. He knew Carole was furious with what he had said to the media, specially after it had just passed a couple of hours since Edward had done that thing in his house.
She got out of the car, not saying a word. Marco could understood why she was like that, but he also knew she needed to hear his explanations to why he said what he said.
"Car, you need to listen to me." He begged, moving around to the other side of the car where Carole was standing with her arms crossed, still furious and hurt at the same time.
"I'm listening," she said, glaring at him.
He took a deep breath, running his hands through his blonde hair before saying, " I said what I said to protect you."
Carole's eyes widen, " Protect me? How telling the world that I'm your supposed girlfriend is protecting me? It isn't!"
He sighed, " God, your so difficult some times. Car, you work in this field, you know what would have happen if I told the journalist the truth or another story. They wouldn't buy it because they saw us getting out of my house, and you, wearing by BVB jacket. Plus, your the daughter of one of Dortmund's richest man, they would report it the way they wanted it. You know how they work, you would be talking for weeks and it wasn't going to be for the best reasons..."
Carole didn't know what to say, she was processing it all in her head but above all she was stunned with what Marco was saying.
He continued, " Car, you know like I do that it was the most likely scenario. They don't care about you being my friend or enemy or whatever...they want to earn money selling stories and you would be the top if I didn't say something."
" They are still going to run the story for so long! You announced in front of everyone I was your girlfriend!" Carole spat, still very worried.
" But they are not going to run the way they would if I didn't say anything!" Marco defended, " Car, they would put my bruises not as their top story but rather if I had a hot night with the daughter of the man that runs the agency I work with!"
Carole remain silent as what Marco said sank in her head. She was grateful but she could help but to feel so lost...her world had all crumble down so fast.
"Hey..." Marco said as he saw what had happen for times today then the entire years he had know her. She was so fragile and lost, he knew that the tears were so easy to get out from her eyes in the past hours. He had never seen her like this. " I'm with you, every step of the way. I'm here and I'm not going to anywhere, Car." He whispered as he hugged her.
" Thank you." She muttered between tears.
Marco smiled and help her clean her face. He knew it was going to take some time to heal her heart, specially with all that was now going to be around her, but she was strong and she was going to be the happy and enthusiastic pain in the ass he loved.
"You have to start having better ideas," she chuckled, still in his arms for some reason she was getting used to being like this with him and she was liking it a lot. She felt so safe and like she was able to do anything. " But, thank you for thinking of me."
