"Babe you need help?"
"Nah, I got it."
"You sure?"
I looked ova' at Adri, who was sittin' on my bed while I got dressed. "Yea, Adri. I'm straight."
Today was my first appointment with the physical therapist, and Adri was takin' me. I was ready ta' get better, but I ain't feel like havin' nobody in my face. I really ain't feel like leavin' the house, to be honest, but I knew it was somethin' I was gon have to do eventually.
"I really don't mean to be annoying. I just want to help. If I seem to be, I'm sorry. It's not intentional."
"Baby," I chuckled. "Quit, man. You know you ain't annoyin'. I wouldn't have you ova' hea' if you was."
The more time I spent with Adri, the more I realized her insecurities. And they weren't small. If I said certain things, she took offense. If I didn't talk to her or be affectionate for long periods of time, she would think I lost interest. I don't know what ha' last niggas or her father did to her, but they fucked her up big time. But I was tryin' my hardest to break her out of them, and show her how much of an amazing and beautiful girl she was, because she is just that.
She sighed. "Okay."
She slid off the bed, and I grabbed ha' arm to pull ha' ova' to me. "Hey, stop that."
"Stop what?"
"Bein' like that. It's bad enough I'm in pain and shit, and you know how I am. I hate seein' you down. Put a smile on ya' face fa' me, please."
She grinned. "Okay."
"Gimme kiss."
I poked my lips out, and she pecked my lips twice, pressing her lips on mine to make it linger. I sucked on her bottom lip softly, as she cupped my face, and she stopped it by placing another peck on my lips.
