Chapter 4
1 Month Later

"Hold on, I'm coming!" I yelled towards the door, practically running to get it. I ran my fingers through my hair before unlocking my door and opening, to see Aaliyah.
"Mind helping me with these bags?"
"Yea." I took some from her hands, managing not to drop any. "How many more do you have in the car?"
"None." She answered. "I got them all, I wasn't trying to make any more trips."
Tonight, I was having a small get-together at my place. It's just going to be Aaliyah, Blake, Sam, his cousin, and I. It was Aaliyah's idea for us to get together and hang out, since all of us didn't have class (we never had class on the weekends), and we were all off work today, which didn't happen often. We all agreed to do it at my place this weekend.
It's been a month since I've met Sam, and it's been great. We spend a lot of time together, whenever we can see each other. If we're not studying, or if I'm not tutoring him, we're just chilling. He's great company.
To say that it's hard to remember we're friends is an understatement. Being in his presence, admiring his good looks, it's all a temptation. And I believe he knows that he makes me weak some times. But I try my best to remain calm around him.
"I got some of these for us." Aaliyah held up some small bottle of Myx Fusions Mocato wine coolers, one of our favorite drinks.
"Ooo, thanks girl." I said while putting up the rest of the groceries.
"So tell me." She began. "What's the deal with you and Sam?"
"What do you mean?"
"Adri." She huffed, rolling her eyes. "Please don't turn into Justin Bieber."
"I'm not." I defended. "I'm just asking, what do you mean?"
"Really?" She laughed. "I'm your best friend, you can tell me these things."
"Aaliyah, there's nothing to tell. It's the same story as last month - we're just really good friends."
"Mhm." She smirked. "It's okay to say you like him."
I took a breath, stuffing the empty grocery bags under my kitchen sink. I leaned my back against the island counter. "I can say it. I like him."
"So...what's the problem?"
"I just..." I started, and took a breath. "I don't know." I mumbled. "I don't want to rush into anything. I want that perfect friendship before anything. I mean, you know how I am when it comes to guys."
"I do." She nodded. "Which is why I get why you're acting like this."
"I mean, am I right for feeling like this?"
"I wouldn't say right, because our views are a little different on this. But they are understandable." She answered. "Look, the more you try to fight the attraction, the worst it will get. Trust me. Blake and I were the same way when we first met. I wanted the same thing - a strong foundation before a relationship. But I realized that I was focused more on the friendship more than anything. That may sound crazy, but why not try to be both at the same time?"
