Briana Michaels

"Hello?" His voice lowly spoke on the other end of the phone.

"Can I crash there tonight please?"

"Yeah, whea' ya at?" I heard shuffling on his end.

"I'm on my way up now, I'm walking into the lobby." I said.

"Kay. Comin'," he said hanging up.

"Briana," I heard the overnight concierge, Tony, say to me.

"Hey Tony." I spoke while speeding to the elevator holding Brylee and Johnathan in their portable car seats not wanting to hold a conversation.

I rode to the tenth floor and walked to the right seeing August standing outside of the door with some long johns on waiting for me. He grabbed both car seats from my hands and allowed me inside. He sat their car seats down and unstrapped them. He placed them in the bassinets that they had here for when they visit.

"Thank you," I spoke breaking the silence.

"No problem, ya wanna talk now or lata?" he asked me.

"We can talk in the morning," I told him. "Go get some rest," I smiled as he went to the closet and gave me some clothes and covers.

"Thanks," I spoke.

"I luh you B," he said as he gave me a hug squeezing me tightly laying his head on top of mine.

"I love you too August." I released from the hug and went over to the couch as he went back into his bedroom after he checked on Kay.

I woke up to the sound of Brylee crying. I quickly hopped up and hurriedly got her from her bassinet so she wouldn't wake anyone else up.

"Briana, is that you?" Kay asked as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes looking at me.

"Mhm," I hummed as Brylee stopped crying once she was on my shoulder.

"I missed you," she got up and hugged my waist.

"I missed you too pumpkin." I said as I kissed her forehead. "Go back to bed, okay?" I asked her as I read the clock: 6:23am.

"K. Are you going to be here when I wake up?" she asked as she got back in bed.

"Yes, I promise." I said as I picked Johnathan up knowing that he's going to start crying soon too.

I walked out of her room and was startled by August walking into her room.

"You scared the crap out of me," I told him as he held a sleeping Johnathan in his arms.

"My bad," he said as he sat next to me on the couch. "What's up with you though?" he asked looking directly at me.

"Chance has to go back to Nigeria again. He just keeps leaving me with them. I feel like I can't even do this sometimes." I cried as I continuing to bounce Brylee on my lap lightly as she played with my fingers.

"You can't do what?" he asked.

"Take care of them," I admitted.

"B, you tripping now. I ain't eva' see someone go so hard for their kids and Brian like you do. He here or not, them kids straight cus of you. You did it this far and you can continue."
