So interview number 2, is now here and I would like to introduce you to the talented writer Heather Coyle who is currently getting herself known with the book Anchored and I am pleased to note that at the time of conducting this interview it is in the ratings at #53 Mystery Thriller.
So you if you are wondering why I have added Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger - well it goes like this....a little bird told me that ....Heather likes to move and dance a little every day...with her little one...and this song is one of her favourites.....so if you want to dance along with her....and I will too...hey even if my body moves one way and my buddah stomach maybe moves the other...oh yeah...I got the moves...okay...might be 20 years since those dance classes and my teenage daughter is looking at me kinda strange....so maybe not....but when the curtains are closed ...I can pretend eh? Come on...everyone do a wiggle..try not to laugh too much!
Heather, my fellow NBR member and Wattpad Ambassador thank you for kindly agreeing to undertake this interview. Let's get ourselves comfortable as we settle down in our virtual café in our comfy chairs. Now I'll order. What are we drinking? Wine? Coffee? Tea? Oh and are we having cake? If so, which cake is your favourite?- Is there a memory attached to it that you would like to share?
I haven't had a drink in such a long time with the little ones, I'll take a whisky sour or vodka tonic if they have it. And I typically do not have dessert with my alcohol. Bad experience with beer and ice cream. Never again.
Now we know you hail from Canada and are an urbanite, but what area of Canada are you from and were you always an urbanite? Or did you become one and why?
I actually live in Peterborough which is about an hour and a half from Toronto. So I guess I am hard pressed to call myself an urbanite but country girl I am not. I like being closed to stores, groceries and the like. I used to have an awful shoe and purse collection, I miss them so much but your priorities shift for kids. I have traded in my Choos for Sketches.
How does it feel to be doing so well in the rankings? Are you floating on air?
Rankings, they are fickle things. I have been lucky that The Anchored has sat in the top 200s for a little while now and when I was writing A Pound of Flesh it did pretty well but I find shortly after a story is completed it will fall. But I can still have hope. It just feels good to know that people are actually reading and liking what you are doing. Doesn't everyone want some kind of accolade?
How did you discover Wattpad?
I actually discovered Wattpad through an article in the Costco little magazine they produce each month. Margaret Atwood was talking about her story here and the free site so I checked it out. It was perfect because I had a newborn at the time so I did a lot of nursing and a lot of reading.
When did you start writing? Was there something that happened in your life that made you feel the need to write or have you always had a passion to write?
I've always been a bit of a writer, as a child I would have my stories published in the local newspaper and poems in anthologies. I always had the passion but my parents encouraged it as a hobby and not a career choice. So I kind of stepped away from it after high school when I went to University. My professors always told me to stop being so theatrical in my essays and papers, so I guess it never really left. But I only picked back up at it after reading on Wattpad and getting some encouragement from the wonderfully talented . I had commented on some of his work and he responded. Honestly one of the nicest writers on here, and even if he gets 1000 comments a day, he makes time for his readers which really solidified the Wattpad experience for me.
