I would like to introduce you to the UK based writer Elise Noble who lives outside London near royalty. (Should I curtsy ha ha ha).
Elise is a Wattpad Ambassador and a self-published writer on Amazon. A lover of animals, I understand she has a horse, two dogs and two rather cute sugar gliders.
I am pleased to say she also has a penchant for chocolate and wine, a fabulous combination, I must say. So we will immediately bond ☺. Chink chink.
Elise, thank you for kindly agreeing to undertake this interview. Let's get ourselves comfortable as we settle down in our virtual Beach Café in our comfy chairs. Now I'll order and I'll treat.
So what are we drinking? Coffee? Tea? Or a glass of wine?? Oh and are we having cake? I'm guessing it might contain chocolate? If so, which cake is your favourite? Is there a memory attached to it that you would like to share?
Reply: In a beach café? It has to be a fruit cocktail served up by a hot waiter. Or a glass of wine in the evening, but not when I'm editing. Not if I want any of the words to make sense. And definitely cake. I don't have a particular favourite, but it has to be homemade. I'm a terrible cook in general (although I'm good at dismantling the smoke alarm) but I do make good cakes. My pineapple and banana muffins are favourites among my friends, plus I can justify them as being healthy due to the fruit content.
Funny you should say that but I make dark chocolate and banana muffins, plus apple and cinnamon ones, always with brown sugar, I tell my daugther they are one of her five a day! I've brought some with me, but I wish you had brought your pineapple and banana ones, I've never had those.
Lol - I can send you the recipe if you want!
Send it over - we can have a Cake Fest! (I since found this video of how to make your muffins for anyone who is interested! Bake with Charis :-) Made me think of my daughter who use to like to bake with me at this age.
On looking at your website I noticed that you had written 8 books before you became published and that came about almost by accident. That before meeting some fellow writers on holiday, you had not discussed it with anyone in the flesh before. I can't believe that at that point you had written seven novels, and none of your family knew. I just laughed when I read that your boyfriend thought you spent an awful lot of time on Facebook. Yet I know you are not alone. Many writers have wanted to get to a certain point, often published, before they have shared their writing ambitions with people offline, even their nearest and dearest. Why did you keep it to yourself? Were you hoping to be published before you shared this? Or did you wait until you were?
Reply : Hmm, why didn't I share it? I guess I always had the fear that my writing wasn't any good. And it wasn't, not at first. Trouble in Paradise was the first book I wrote and thought, "Yeah, I'd pay money for that."
By then, I'd had Pitch Black professionally edited, and it came back with so many comments about all the things I needed to do better, I read it over, filed it away and cried a bit. But then I wrote Trouble and the words just flowed. That book was the easiest I've written because it's based so much on real life, so I didn't have to stop and research every five minutes—the fictional town of Fidda Hilal is based on Dahab, a place I've been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in, the suspense plot (won't give too much away!) was inspired by a true story, and I'm a qualified diver so writing about Callie's lessons was easy because I'd already been through all that.
