This interview initially appeared in the WattmagUSA profile for Wattpad Chronicle in December 2016
I would like to introduce you to a lovely American fellow, who must be one of the nicest and most supportive people I had met, during the last #WattpadBlockParty —Summer Edition II. Meet the talented writer Christopher L. Buono, known on Wattpad as ChrisBuono
So, Chris-
Thank you for kindly agreeing to undertake this interview. Let's get ourselves comfortable, but first, I'll put some coal on the stove, as it's a bit cold and foggy in the UK at the moment. Then we can settle down, in the comfy chairs of our virtual café...after I go and order, of course.
What are we drinking? Coffee? Tea? Or, a glass of wine? Oh, and, are we having cake? If so, which cake is your favourite? Is there a memory attached to it that you would like to share?
Reply: My pleasure to join you, Kimberley. Thanks for having me, and for setting the room just right. Being comfortable, after all, is a big part of having a successful conversation. And, since that old axiom states: "Food is the way to a man's heart," I'd say that you're right on course, for bringing about a great discussion between us.
As for something to drink, and on what cake to snack? I'll have a cup of coffee, and a piece of pound cake, please. After all, those two "desserts" do go hand-in-hand—great "dunking" buddies, if you will.
As for a memory attached to coffee and pound cake for me? Hmm...I can't readily think of any, so...why don't we just create a memory now, by way of enjoying those, together, during this interview.
So, coffee and pound cake it is, and what a lovely thing to say, in respect of memories. I have never heard of Pound Cake, so I had to look it up, it is very similar to an English Madeira Cake, and here's a YouTube tutorial, so that we can share the experience, with an added twist.
Reply: Fantastic! Good thinking.
Where in America do you hail from, Chris, and is that where you grew up, or, have you traveled across a few states, to your current home?
Reply: My home has always been not far from New York City.
That's one of the places I have always wanted to go, to take my daughter shopping, go to Central Park, and take a horse and carriage trip, it's on my list. What else should I see, when I get there?
Reply: That would be a memorable thing for you to do, yes. And, since we're so close to the holidays, window shopping, on fifth avenue, can be fun and special, too. You can't go wrong, visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, either. And, wandering through Times Square—an area that has been called "the crossroads of the world"—would be worth your while. As the center spot of the city's celebration on New Year's Eve every year, that area is quite a hub of electricity—both literally and figuratively.
Ahhh, I am so tempted that I want to get on a plane already—the New Year Eve celebrations always look so fantastic, whenever I see them on the TV.
Reply: That's the power of television, lol. The next best thing to being there!
Chris, you say you "never heard of Wattpad.com, until you entered Harlequin's 'So You Think You Can Write' ( #SYTYCW15 ) competition in 2015, that you believe the teaming of Harlequin and Wattpad was/is a wonderful pairing of the two writing platforms, that joining Wattpad has opened doors for you and your writing, and that it continues to do so." Did you stumble across Wattpad, as I did, or, did someone suggest you enter the competition?
