(23) Almost Dying...Again

I come to Suicide Bridge when I need to clear my head. After the "incident" I tried to stay away from it as much as possible but I realized that Monster did me a favor by throwing me off the bridge. That dreadful night was the night I met Pierce. He's the one who helped me and he's the one who put the fire back in my soul.

I don't even try to swim I just want to sink. I just want it all to end.

"Hello? Is someone there!?!" I hear a guy's voice.

No, don't come here. Don't look in the water, don't save me. I want to die I want to be with mom.

I hear a huge splash. Two strong arms wrap around me pulling me to the surface and to the bank. I attempt to push them away but I can't move my limbs. I'm cold and broken.

"Hey! Are you alright? Please be alright!" His voice is desperate. 

I lift my eyelids slightly to see who my "savior" is. A handsome boy with dark hair and dark eyes. He has dark spots covering his body. Bruises?

"You should leave me to die. If you could kindly just throw my body back into the water that would be great." I huff.

"How can you say something like that!?! Don't take your life for granted, it's precious."

Tears run down my face and the warm figure holds my body against his, trying to lend me some warmth.

"There's nothing for me to live for. Nothing for me to go back to." I sob into the strangers chest.

"Live for me. Live for other like you. And as for the no place to go back to, I don't either."

"What's your name?"

"Pierce and yours?"

"Rin."

"Let's get out of here Rin. Is that okay? I know someone who lives around here."

I nod my head in response. The boy gently lifts me up and carries me away. Away from Monster, away from the bridge and away from despair. The boy gave me hope and the will to live again. It only took an act of kindness to pull me out of the darkness Monster placed in my heart.

"Well looks like I got lucky!" A rugged looking guy stands next to me.

"Excuse me?" I take a step back.

"Oh I'm sorry it doesn't look like I introduced myself. I'm Tanner, Tanner Lee." The guy grabs my arm.

"What? Who the hell do you think you are!?!" Tanner? I remember Viper talking about a new gang in town. Tanner is the leader of it if I'm not mistaken. I yank my wrist away from his grip.

"Oh you shouldn't have done that Rin."

"How do you know me?" I demand.

"I thought you were a lot smarter than this. It's a shame really. I guess Nathaniel is still a step ahead of you." His nefarious smile sends shivers down my spine. 

"Wait a minute, Monster?" I question. What is going on?

"So you really do call him that, that's hilarious." The tall guy laughs and holds his stomach. "You're so pretty too, it's a shame what I have to do to you."

He leans towards me and I back away quickly. He throws a fist at me but I'm quick to block it. He's fast and wild. He's throwing punches just for the heck of it. If I'm careful I can dodge most of his attacks and he'll grow tired quickly. That's when I'll either escape or attack him myself.
