"Garroth,"
He couldn't really be here, could he? None of this is making sense, all of this, it just doesn't fit. He stared at me clearly as bewildered as I was.
"You're not real," I whispered, "you're not,"
"Aph, yes I am!" He shouted and ran up to me. He enclosed my small figure in his arms and simply held me.
"I've missed you," I said with my face still on his chest, I was crying.
He stared at my eyes and I stared back. He wasn't crying. We were only apart for a few seconds to him. If only it were that easy. Being in his arms brought too many memories. I was going to kill Zane. I was. I meant it.
"Aphmau, how long has it been?" I looked at his face. His hypnotizing eyes had all of my attention. But I managed to look away.
"15 years," I told him, "it was 15 years when the others and I got back and two months later here you are,"
His jaw dropped, "Garroth, every 6 seconds you spent over there was a month here, every minute was a year,"
He sat down and began crying a little, "how's Laurence?"
I smiled, "even in a situation like this you still worry about others. He's fine, and he misses you,"
"Aphmau?" I heard Laurence's voice from around the corner.
"Laurence," I stepped out of Garroths embrace and walked to the source of the voice, "Laurence, it's Garroth,"
"What?" He seemed confused, "why are you crying?"
"Garroth, he's here, he's back," I smiled through my tears.
"Aph? What wrong?" I saw Garroth come up to where I was hugging Laurence.
His face automatically turned into one of fury, "I trusted you Laurence,"
"Garroth?!" Laurence stumbled backwards.
"You took the chance while I was locked in another dimension to make your move? I never expected that I would win, but I didn't expect to lose like this," he wiped his tears and stared sadly at the two of us.
"Garroth, he didn't-" he cut me off.
"Aphmau, I thought you cared. I should've known who you would pick the second I saw you and Laurence kissing in the forest.
That's right, we never explained to him that that wasn't us. He still thought Laurence had kissed me behind his back. All this time he had to withstand that pain.
"Garroth," I spoke softly, "me and Laurence didn't kiss in the forest, that was an illusion Zane used to corrupt you,"
Garroths eyes widened, "h-he what? I can't believe I fell for that or doubted either of you,"
"It's okay Garroth, it was just a misunderstanding. To be honest, if it were me I probably would've taken a sword to your throat without a second thought," Laurence reassured Garroth.
"No you wouldn't," Garroth corrected.
Laurence smiled, "it made you feel better though didn't it?"
Garroth nodded and chuckled. They both were seriously the best of friends. I just wish I didn't keep getting in the middle of them.
"Garroth just so you know," Laurence spoke barely above a whisper, "you were the first to kiss her, she kissed me after but it was simply to get me under control. You've gotten further than I have,"
I blushed and walked out of the hole with Garroth and Laurence by my side. When we got to the base camp everything was back in place. Gone one minute back the next.
"What's going on?" I heard Laurence wonder to himself beside me.
I sighed heavily realizing how tired I was. That's what happens when you spend the whole night running around
"Go get some sleep," Garroth insisted.
"No,"
"C'mon Aph, I'm not going anywhere," he smiled.
"Can you really promise that? Last time I saw you you were in such a strange place, i dont want to lose someone so important to me," I rambled on.
Garroths face turned to one of sympathy, "I promise,"
I smiled, "good,"
He smiled back, "so you'll go to sleep?"
I thought up a quick plan, "yeah, I am pretty exhausted,"
I went to my tent but left the zipper open just a tiny bit.
"It's good to have you back," Laurence said to Garroth.
"Good to be back," Garroth smiled sheepishly.
"You know, nothing is going to stop me from going after Aphmau now," Laurence said in a very calm but threatening voice.
"Same here," he gave a shy smile with a blush.
"Game on?" Laurence asked.
"Game on,"
