"Well well well," I heard Lucinda's voice from the doorway, "isn't this interesting,"
Garroth rolled his eyes, "there's nothing going on,"
"That's not what I'm seeing," she smirked.
I looked down to find Garroth's arm around my waist. We both had a blush on our face and our lips were slightly swollen. Sadly she was right, it didn't look like nothing.
"Y-you shouldn't be barging into people's homes," I said in a soft tone.
"Why? Were you guys planning to go further?" She moved her eyebrows up and down suggestively.
My face was probably beyond tomato red now. I get that we weren't exactly in the most innocent position, but how could she possibly suggest such a thing?
"Oh and Aphmau sweetie," Lucinda said before exiting the house, "he still hasn't removed his arms, nor have you asked him to,"
And with that she shut the door leaving us to an extreme silence. I looked down and noticed he did in fact still have his arms around me.
He slowly and hesitantly unwrapped his arms. He looked down at the floor with a bit of shame. I know he was lost in thought.
"I-I'm sorry," he said slowly, "I guess I got carried away,"
I stared at him dumbfounded, "what are you talking about?"
"The kiss," he paused, "I'm getting ahead of myself and-"
I cut him off, "do you regret it?"
He shook his head "of course not,"
"Then neither do I," I gave a sly smile and left the house and a blushing Garroth behind.
Of course, my once peaceful moment was interrupted by a painful headache. It was gone as soon as it came but that didn't stop me from worrying.
I had seen Zane and it felt extremely real. Not to mention that whole ordeal with my father. Sure I hated him, but he was still my father. I know for a fact that no matter what atrocities your parents commit, you can never stop loving them.
"Lady Aphmau," I heard a vaguely familiar voice from behind me.
I turned to see Yip standing there in all his glory. Beside him stood Leona--Kiki's daughter.
"H-hey guys," I said dumbfounded, when did you get here?"
Leona creased her eyebrows, "two days ago. You don't remember? We came to see you,"
"Two days ago? How long was I asleep?" The fear of missing too much again stared to crawl deeply into my mind.
"Only four days. I assumed you would at least have been awake enough to notice us greet you," Yip stated. I gave a sigh of relief and suddenly dropped to the floor.
The world started closing in on me and all noises ceased to exist. I felt myself falling, but I didn't feel the impact. I looked up and saw dark hair and eyes staring down at me.
"Aaron?" I said in a groggy voice.
Then my vision cleared and I saw Laurence staring down at me with a worried expression. I felt a tear roll down my cheek. How foolish was I to think he was back?
"Aph?" Laurence shook me, "Aph?"
I stared up at him and smiled weakly. I slowly rubbed his hand with my thumb before falling victim to the darkness once again. Once more I found myself in the Irene dimension. Only this time, Zane was nowhere to be seen.
Sitting in a Quartz throne sat a beautiful lady cloaked in white. Her skin radiated beauty and strength. I, of course, was dumbfounded that a simple person could radiate this type of aura. I started to focus on her more and heard her singing an eerily familiar song.
"A storm is loosed upon the sea, whose eye is stained with tears
A wretch hell-bound and bent on blood, the makings of the fearful's fears
The tide it stole away her grace, the depths they wouldn't claim her
A toil begat by fathers blood, this path was laid before her
Redemption borne by brigands blood, a blight upon the darkness
The pact embraced, a road unsought, the maiden of death won't be unwrought
Her wrath is known throughout the black, the gardens of death she's tending
Vengeance is her only ward, beware the blood red rose's thorn,"
She smiled bitter-sweetly at me and then the image disappeared. I slowly lifted my heavy eyelids to find myself back in Zoey's house.
"What the--" I propped myself up on my elbows from my previous position.
"I was gonna tell you," I heard Garroth from beside me, "but you left me kind of m-mesmerized,"
"What were you gonna tell me?" I asked bluntly.
"You can't leave the house. Lucinda put a spell around it to keep you stable, but as soon as you step out that door, the spell will be removed. She's been coming over every day and helping out so much. We really don't know what's up with you Aph, but you have us worried sick," he sighed heavily and moved me over a bit so he could lay on the bed with me.
I nodded.
"Aph, I think you should be off your feet for a while. Just, no more excitement, no more crazy adventures, none of that. Just say home and--" I cut him off.
"No," I stared at him, "I will not sit here while everyone does the work for the village I came up with. They've already supported me too much,"
He looked at me with a challenging glare. He knew I wasn't the kind of person to sit around and do nothing. He also knew I wasn't the type to back down. We just stared at each other until I set my pride aside and backed down.
His eyes widened, "did I really get you to agree,"
I nodded, "you seem really set on me not moving,"
He smiled and exited Zoey's home. As soon as I heard him walk away I slid my legs from out of the covers and onto the floor. I took hold of my tiny purple backpack and out in some random supplies. I put on my shoes and quietly stepped out of the house.
If no one wanted to help find Aaron, then I'll just have to do it myself.
