Laurence-he just kissed me. He was serious about winning wasn't he? He had never gone to this extent before. He always held back. I can see now that the restraints were broken.
"Laurence-" he cut me off before I could continue.
"Don't, just let me have this moment," he sighed and laid his head down on the tree trunk.
"Laurence," I paused, "how did you heal so quickly?"
"Hmm?" He raised and eyebrow.
"When I was running to Kiki and Garroth I saw you on the floor most likely unconscious," his expression changed into one of confusion, "and next thing you know, you're up and ready to fight Garroth and-"
"I was in Phoenix Drop getting more supplies and when I came back I heard you talking to Garroth," Laurence shook his head slowly, "I wasn't on the ground unconscious, not today anyway,"
He looked at me with an intense expression. He was holding something back. I could tell. Laurence was biting down at his lips while he stared at my own. I should probably leave before I gave in to his tempting pink lips or blue eyes. I didn't wasn't to choose yet, but I couldn't bring myself to leave.
I cleared my throat, "did you explain to everyone why Garroth is here?"
He nodded his head, "I tried my best, though I really don't know why myself,"
"I dont care why as long as he's back and alive," I said rapidly.
"He doesn't seem quite himself though, and i dont mean his incident from today. Something must've happened in those 10 extra seconds he spent in the Irene dimension. Something bad," he held sorrow in his eyes.
"He does seem different, and it also seems as though he's trying to cover it up," I sighed remorsefully.
Laurence got up and patted all the dirt off his pants. He looked around and then focused on Aaron holding Lilith. He narrowed his eyes and began waking.
"Where're you going?" I asked while I stood up.
"To check on Garroth, he's been gone awhile," he continued to walk not even stopping to look at me.
I saw Aaron and Zoey conversing over Lilith Garnet and Dimitri acting like Lilith was when she cried. It was rather funny, though he wasn't a good impressionist. He honestly just looked like he really needed to use the bathroom.
"Aaron, Zoey, can you come here for a second please?" I signaled them over.
They walked over to me with confusion written all over their faces. It irks me how much of a family Zoey, Aaron, Lilith and Dimitri acted like. It was hard enough just pulling them away.
"What's up?" Asked Aaron.
"I need you guys to start working on the settlement. Since Yip, Brendon and his wife and kid are arriving tomorrow we need somewhere for them to stay. Besides, I'm not too comfortable with Lilith sleeping outside in the rapidly dropping temperature," I explained to them.
Zoey nodded, "we'll get started on that. I'm sure Dimitri will be fine watching Lilith on his own, Nicole is his mother after all,"
"Right, well then I'm going to take a walk. I need to clear my head or something, a lots been going on," I sighed and waved at them, "I'll be back to help in an hour or so,"
I began walking in the direction of the portal inside the tree. I missed Levin and Malachi. A lot. While I was walking I was thinking back to when I first found Levin at my doorstep. When I went to find his mother. When I discovered Malachi in his mansion, all alone. When I introduced Levin to his new brother. When I got rid of the crib to make room for two beds. And finally to when I left, 15 years ago. It seemed wrong to start over with Lilith Garnet, though they didn't seem to have a problem with it, I did.
Then I thought to when I first met Garroth. He was shy beyond belief. He wouldn't even allow me to see his face without that silly helmet on. He was always checking up on me and seeing if I need help. I used to deny his help, saying I was doing just fine on my own. But over time I began to accept his help. I remember dancing with him at Donna and Logan's wedding. Building his guard tower. Telling me he loved me, and then I abandoned him. How could I have done that? Left someone as perfect as him behind. It wasn't fair for me to have done that to him.
Next in my train of thoughts came Laurence. I remember meeting him for the first time, he had his crazy orange hair which downsized his actual attractiveness. I remember thinking he was a total Casanova. He had told me I was an angel, and I really thought he was just a flirt. But overtime it became more obvious that he wasn't just that and that everything he said was actually based on his feelings. I remember arguing over who was going to marry that table. I remember going to the Nether to retrieve the chicken shaman and again, I abandoned a perfect being. He scared the death out of me when I saw his shadow knight form for the first time. I remember him becoming blind and Cadenza returning his hair to its natural chestnut form. I remember becoming a Meif'wa after the Michi incident. I remember him not being able to say he didn't love me, even if it was to save our lives. I remember having to kiss him to get him under control. I remember tumbling into the hole, ending up on top of him. Everything just a whole mess. A beautiful mess.
"I know what you mean," my thoughts were interrupted by Garroth's voice, "I myself noticed that I dont seem quite the same,"
I stepped behind a tree and listened to their conversation.
Laurence nodded, "you just seem so-"
I stepped out from behind the tree and finished off his thoughts.
"Broken,"
