"No, no, no,no!"

I tripped on my own two feet and hit something hard. I screamed loudly and then fell into unconsciousness. The world was dark and eerie.

Everything was just one crisis after another. I had no way of stopping anything that's going on. Maybe it was better if I just stayed in this state, forever.

"Mom?" I heard a frantic voice.

I opened my eyes to find a pair of green eyes staring down at me. Malachai. He sighed heavily when he realized I was awake. Cautiously, I sat up. I dont know how long I was out, but now I was in a new place. The room was made entirely out of wooden planks and there wasn't a single thing here, aside from the bed I was currently laying in.

"How long?" I asked.

"Not too long, about half a day," Malachai smiled to show his relief.

I suddenly remember what happened. I walked outside and saw a face. A face from my past which I wish I had to never lay my eyes upon again. The cruelest face currently standing in my memory.

"Mom, is it true Garroth is back?" I heard another voice opposite of Malachai.

I saw Levin with a confused look on his face. I remember he had always wanted to meet Garroth since everyone always talked about how similar they were. I remember having to disappoint him with the news that he wasn't back.

"Yes," I smiled at him even though right now smiling was the last thing I wanted to do, "am I still on the island?"

Levin shook his head, "you're in Phoenix Drop. Laurence brought you here saying they didn't have the proper equipment to make sure you were alright,"

I nodded. That must mean I was in the Phoenix Drop medical room. I slowly unwrapped the blanket from around my body and stepped out of the bed. Even though I was sleeping nearly twelve hours I still felt exhausted. The door to the room opened up and I found Garroth standing there with wide eyes.

"Aph! You're okay," he ran over to me and wrapped his arms around me.

I chuckled and returned the hug, "I thought you had more faith in me,"

He blushed, "I-I didn't mean it like that. I-I just meant th-that I was really worried," he looked a Levin and Malachai then back to me.

"Why were the people caring for you two dudes?" He said with a suspicious glare at the boys.

"Nice to see you again too, Garroth," Malachai chuckled.

I busted out laughing and fell back onto the bed. Levin and Malachai laughed along with me. Garroth on the other hand, he just had a confused look on his face.

"Garroth, I'd like you to re-meet my sons, Levin and Malachai," I pointed to them with a goofy grin plastered on my face.

His eyes widened, "oh, oh my Irene I'm so sorry I didn't realize I guess I simply assumed and I'm so sorry,"

"No worries," Levin stated, "it's good to finally meet you. Er, I guess we met awhile ago but i dont really remember,"

Garroth was blushing so hard I could've sworn he was about to explode. Suddenly I got a loud ringing noise in my head which caused me to feel dizzy. I tumbled a little and lost my balance but as soon as it started it ended.

"Are you okay?!" All three of them shouted simultaneously.

"I'm fine," I said while rubbing my head, "perfectly fine,"

Garroth offered his hand to me and I gladly accepted. He pulled me up and stared at my eyes before squinting. He knew I was hiding something, but surprisingly he just sighed and didn't press it.

"Come on," he said while turning to the door, "if you're feeling perfectly fine then let's go back to the island,"

I nodded my head followed him. Behind me Levin and Malachai were conversing quietly. I had a feeling I knew what they were talking about, but I didn't want to make assumptions.

"Levin, Malachai," Both boys looked at Garroth as he called for their attention, "do you think me and Aph could walk the rest of the way there alone? I need to talk to her about something,"

They nodded their heads and gave me a kiss on the cheek before walking away with a wave. Garroth wanted to talk, about what I had no clue. I guess I was about to find out.

"Aphmau, who did you see yesterday before you blacked out?" He questioned me.

His question caught me off guard and I lowered my head without giving a response.

"We would have recognized him if it was Aaron, the only one who seemed to know was you. Aphmau, this is crucial--you have to tell us," he held onto my shoulders and looked at me with an intense expression.

I nodded, "okay, but when we get back to the village--I would much rather not have to repeat this conversation,"

We walked into the portal to find everyone huddled together by a fire. Inside the fire I noticed a large shape in the fire. They were burning the body. The body of someone from my rather dark past. Sadly, this brought me joy. I smiled under my bangs so no one would catch it.

"We're back," Garroth announced.

Everyone turned to look at us. The ringing in my head came back but this time I didn't let it show. I closed my eyes and took some very deep breaths. Slowly, every memory I had forced myself to forget came crashing back. All of the times I spent locked alone in my room without any food. The times I was given cruel punishments for the slightest sign of disobedience. The moment I decided to run as far way as I could without a single glance back. And lastly, ending up in Phoenix Drop.

I opened my eyes.

"That thing is my father,"
