I heard the sound of the zipper on my tent and rapidly threw myself in a sleeping position. I hope they didn't notice I was listening in on their conversation.

Their conversation. They were competing for me? Did they expect me to choose? How could I possibly decide which stays and which goes. I couldn't possibly, they both mean so much to me. But deep down one had to mean more than the other. I'll hold it off as long as I can, but eventually I'll be forced to choose. They wouldn't wait on me hand on foot forever. Who will it be?

"Sleeping Beauty," I heard Laurence's voice, "I know you were listening,"

I sat up, "does Garroth know?"

He shook his head, "he doesn't have a clue about this, or anything for that matter," he gave me a sad smile.

"What? What doesn't he have a clue about," I questioned.

"I see you don't either. Let's just say, that cupid is playing a dangerous game," he shrugged and walked out of my tent.

I ignored Laurence's bizarre statement and went to sleep. For real this time. Just not for long. I woke up in what I assume was an hour later to the sound of a scream.

"Garroth! Stop!" It was a girl.

I got out of my tent and ran outside. I tumbled on something and fell. I looked to see that it was Laurence, covered in blood and on the floor. His chest was still rising and falling so I left and ran to the immediate danger.

"No! Stop!" I heard her yell again.

I ran to where the ruckus was coming from. There I witnessed Garroth, sword in hand, about to stab Kiki. I rushed up to him and grabbed his sword. His eyes were a much darker shade of blue than normal and his face seemed not as sweet as before.

"Garroth? What are you doing?" He didn't answer me.

He ripped my grip away from his sword and pushed me down. His eyes had a look of confusion but only for a second, they turned back to that ice cold empty expression. This wasn't him. He wasn't acting in his own.

"Garroth, don't you touch her!" Laurence came up behind him in his shadow knight form.

"Laurence stop! Don't hurt him," I saw hurt flash through Laurence's face.

He put his sword down and backed away slowly turning his back away from us. Something was wrong. What did I say? Garroth turned back towards me and put up his sword. I got up quickly and grabbed hold of his wrist. This had happened to Laurence before. I knew what to do. I kissed him. Even if it was short it left me breathless. I stepped back to see Garroth's sword on the floor.

"Oh my Irene," a tear slid down his cheek, "what's happening to me?"

"Garroth?" I grabbed his shoulder only to have him shake it off.

"Don't touch me!" He tripped on a tree root and fell, "don't touch me,"

He looked so weak. Only moments ago he was a killing machine and now he was broken on the floor.

"Garroth please, let me help," I reached for him again.

"Don't!" He looked up with teary eyes, "it's only been a day and I already hurt you,"

"You didn't hurt me," I whispered to him, "I'm perfectly fine. Garroth we need to find out what's going on. It's strange, you suddenly appeared after being trapped for so long and not long before that the camp had disappeared. Now you went out of control with your Jury of Nine form,"

"You kissed me for the first time," he mumbled, "it shouldn't have happened like that! You shouldn't have to kiss me to get me under control, I'm so worthless. How could I let myself do something like this? How could I hurt the woman I love!"

By this time he had me crying as well. I knew I should probably leave him alone for awhile but I just couldn't. He looked so vulnerable, how could you leave someone like that on their own? It went beyond my nature. I sat down next to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. Good people shouldn't have to go through this pain.

"You might as well go hug Laurence, I've lost anyways," he put his head in his hands.

"You've still got a chance," I whispered to him. Where was this all coming from? Did he really have a chance?

"Thanks," he smiled weakly, "you should go though. I promise I won't do anything stupid, I just need to think,"

I nodded and left after giving him a kiss on the forehead. I walked over to the camp to find everyone helping out with Kiki. Apparently she had arrived this morning along with Nicole's son Dimitri. Through my peripheral vision I spotted Laurence sitting at the foot of a tree. I walked over to him quietly and sat down.

"Are you alright?" I asked him.

"I should be asking you that," he smiled sadly.

"I'm fine," I smiled back, "what do you think is going on?"

"I dont know. Something beyond human understanding is my guess," he shrugged.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Like I said earlier, Cupid is playing a dangerous game," he leaned in and kissed my lips slowly for about 5 seconds before pulling away.

"And I'm determined to win,"
