I explained to them what happened to Aaron as quickly as I could before going to my bed and sulking silently. The others were thinking up a plan and were kind enough to leave me alone to my thoughts. Maybe I should be alone more often. Danger seems to follow me wherever I go and I would prefer to keep my loved ones out of it. But of course, Laurence wasn't like the others.
"Hey Aph," I heard him whisper from the entrance of my tent.
I had my face buried in my pillow which was probably tear stained from all the crying I've been doing. I didn't dare to look up. If he saw my broken expression he wouldn't leave again.
"Hi," I said with a raspy voice, a clear sign I had been crying.
"Garroth thinks he knows about what took Aaron," he paused, "if you want to discuss it you have twenty minutes to get ready before the meeting starts,"
I nodded my head and got up reluctantly. Laurence stepped outside so I could have some privacy. I took out a drag purple tank top and a pair of white shorts. I quickly put them on and then straightened up my hair. I took a silvery brush and took out all the knots. I then put my still tangly hair into a high pony tail. I probably still looked like a mess, but at least I had freshened up a bit. Reaching over to grab my gloves I slipped on my sleeping bag and brought the entire tent down with me.
"Laurence! A little help here!" I shouted out to him in the tangled mess I was in.
Three minutes passed before I heard a voice, but it wasn't Laurence, "Aph? Are you in there?" It was Garroth.
"Yeah," I sighed, "could you help me out,"
I heard him walk away and then walk back. There was a sound of cloth breaking and then a bright light. I saw Garroth standing there with an outstretched hand which he was offering to me. I gladly took it and got up from the mess.
"Looks like you're going to be needing a new place to sleep," he chuckled.
"I guess I will," I gave him a sideways smile.
"Umm, you know, i-if you want you c-can stay w-with me? Only if you want because I wouldn't want to force you. Oh! I also don't want you to get the wrong idea after all I haven't won so it's not like I wanna umm well you see it wouldn't make sense to-n-not that I have a problem with it! I wouldn't mind it's just that-" oh my Irene he was a nervous wreck.
I cut him off, "Garroth, I'll check to see if Zoey has any space. If she doesn't then I'll gladly accept your offer," I was chuckling lightly.
His faces turned into one of sheer embarrassment, "Wait, really? Y-you sure?"
I nodded my head and laughed, "yes Garroth, defiantly better than getting stuck with Laurence, he wouldn't be as, umm, shy,"
"Ok!" his eyes were sparkling with a jumble of mixed emotions.
We walked towards the area of the meeting. We were ten minutes late, though I doubt anything was said since Garroth was the one with the information. And he was with me. As we were walking Garroth had a sort of strange bubbly aura around him. He was smiling and practically running to the rendezvous. It was rather difficult to keep up with him.
"Garroth," I said breathlessly, "could you slow down a little?"
He stopped without warning causing me to bump into him, "ow!" we shouted simultaneously.
"I said slow down not stop abrubtly," I was rubbing my head gently.
Garroth just smiled, "You're cute when you're angry,"
I glared at him, "shut up," but I couldn't stop the blush.
He bust out laughing, "You're cheeks are like tomato red!"
"Garroth!" I was blushing even more, only this time it was from embarrassment.
Garroth seemed to be in thought, "Maybe more of a strawberry kind of red,"
I started hitting his arm playfully while allowing my laughter to escape my lips. He smiled gently at me while he watched me release all my anger on him. All through my punches his smile never wavered.
Finally he took hold of my tiny wrists and chuckled, "don't you think that's enough punishment princess?"
I chuckled, "You're very confident today,"
"The fact that you didn't outright reject my offer helps," he gave me a toothy grin.
"Don't let your ego get to you," I smirked alrwady knowing his next choice of words.
"And what if I do?"
"Hmm," I paused for effect, "I wonder if Laurence would mind me sleeping in his tent, who am I kidding--it's Laurence, of course he'll let me," my smirk grew in size as I witnessed Garroth's face fall.
"You wouldn't dare,"
"Oh believe me, I would,"
"That's it," he stood up, "you better run,"
"Wait what," I got up and ran with Garroth only a few steps behind me.
I ran into the forest and kept taking sharp turns. I knew i couldn't outrun Garroth so I had to get an advantage. The laughter escaping my lips was extremely loud, it was funny after all. Garroth was pretty tall so it took a lot for him to not get smacked by lower branches and to be able to turn as quickly as I did. He was smiling but his eyes held a death threat which is what made me push to run faster.
Of course, my luck wasn't meant to last long. After a few minutes Garroth finally caught up to me and caught me by the waist. He pulled me back with a victorious smile. I was laughing hysterically and trying to pull myself free but to no avail.
"I win," he said breathlessly.
"Did you? I wouldn't know, I can't even recognize you with all those scratches on your face," I held back a grin.
"Who's the one being held captive again?" he arched up an eyebrow as if expecting an answer.
I lowered my head, "me,"
"Aphmau," he said gently, "you won something bigger than our silly game. you won my heart. And it will always be yours,"
"Always?"
"Always,"
