Chapter 20

  My jaw literally drops to the follow at what Emma said, well not literally but you get my point, right?

  What did I miss? I wasn't sick or anything yesterday, and I would kind of know if Spencer and I were in a relationship....

"What?" I splutter to Emma in astonishment.

I turn to Spencer I'm clearly not the only one who is stunned.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" He spits out.

  As it looks like Spencer is about to say some more somewhat venomous words, I lightly elbow him in the stomach and give him a warning look. He knows I don't like swearing.

  It works though, he closes his mouth.

"This is actually what I'm talking about!" Emma protests as she puts her arms out motioning to how I just stopped Spencer.

She continues. "Everyone around you two sees how the two of you are together!" Emma turns to Jace, Nova, and Parker, who are still seated behind her.

They all nod their heads in agreement. Even Jace and I know how Spencer and him hate each other. I don't even know why, which reminds me, I should ask one of them later.

But since there is a current situation going on right now I shake that thought out of my head.

I look up to Spencer to see if I can read his face and figure out what he is thinking about this. His expression is fixed and unreadable.

I still don't even know how they could have just thought that Spencer and I were together, like actually dating. Where on earth could they have gotten that from?

And Emma hasn't exactly explained what they are thinking about either.

I urge her to continue and explain and she catches on.

"I can clearly see that you guys are utterly shocked that we thought that you two were together, but honestly it wouldn't be that much of a surprise." Emma starts off calmly. I don't know how she can be so calm. "We see everything that you do together. First, you guys went from completely hating each other to being friends or whatever. Then, you brought all of us together. And a guy and girl usually do that when they start to like each other and want to start dating."

Nova stands up from behind and stands beside Emma. "We have also seen many romantic type scenes between the two of you."

"Like what?" I splutter.

"Well, for starters Spencer smiles and laughs now that you are around and only when you are around Jess. He also is very protective of you and occasionally jealous. And when you hurt your ankle he was the first one there to help you. When Clarissa was being her usual bitchy self Spencer comforted and helped you." Nova explains.

Parker gets up as well to help them prove there point. "Also we aren't stupid, we know you guys have hanged out together many times just by yourselves."

"You did?" Jace questions suddenly, destroying Parkers point.

"I myself also have a suspicion about something else." Emma adds with a thoughtful look on her face.

I tilt my head in confusion.

"I think something has happened to you before Jess, I can tell. You are sometimes closed of and reserved, you zone out a lot, and I remember art class on the second day of school. You said you have been through some pretty rough things and you were constantly being labelled as negative things." Emma says with a hint of sadness for me. "And I think Spencer knows about all of this and your past."
