Chapter 45

The people in my life shock me sometimes. And by sometimes I mean frequently. They leave me standing with my jaw dropped, they leave me all bug eyed, but they also leave me happy. And there is nothing wrong with being surprised as long as it is a good kind of surprise.

"Spence......" I trail off, my eyes the size of saucers looking at him mesmerized.

"I know, I know I should've asked you sooner, and I should've done something more romantic like going to the park, or going to the soccer arena, or making a scavenger hunt, or-" He rambles on, still holding the pizza box and white corsage in his hands.

"I love you." I say, trying to keep a straight face as I take a few steps forward. "And one of the many reasons I love you is because of how utterly romantic you are. You got everything ever possible that makes me happy, all in one room. Well except for our friends and family. But you did get Lily. You got soccer balls, you got our graffiti memories, and most importantly you are here."

Spencer sighs, calming down, before giving me a flirty look. "So what do you say? Would you like to go to prom with me kitten?"

I smile back at him, giving him my own failed attempt at looking flirty back. "Of course Spence. It's not like I can really say no to my boyfriend when he asks me to prom."

He grins at my first sentence, but then I hold in my laughter as he frowns at the last part. "You just ruined all my fun."

I smirk in victory as I step over the bristle board laying on the ground. "Opps. My bad." I grab a slice of the pepperoni pizza, but after I do so I also grab the whole box from him.

"Hey! I want some!" Spencer complains as I jokingly start walking away from him and back to where Lily stands, cheering.

"Are you sure? I think you'll be very content with the beautiful corsage you have in your hand." I turn around and point to the corsage in the box he is holding, the corsage I'm probably supposed to take instead of the whole box of pizza.

"Hahaha." Spencer sarcastically laughs and sticks his tongue out at me, then gives me an eye roll. "I pretty sure that this is for you. At least that's what my mom said when she dragged me to some boutique to buy it."

"Aww thanks for all that effort." I smile kindly at Spencer. "But I'd much rather eat this delicious pizza with the two of you than wear a flower that I've heard stabs into your wrist."

"Then let's go eat this delicious pizza, and then we can talk about how Emma will most definitely force you to wear it." Spencer grins at me as he walks into the living room with Lily and I.

"Okay." I agree, but then I stop eating my already second slice of pizza as we sit down. I realize something, but don't bother telling them what we really should be doing, just because we are all still happy.

"Let's play Princesses!" Lily yells, probably waking up the elderly couple who are our neighbours on the other side of the house. "Or Story-time!"

"Whatever one you want to play Princess Lily." Spencer says, resting his back on the couch as we all sit down in the middle of the living room floor, the pizza in the middle.

"We can play both!" She squeals. "Princesses first though."

"Okay, you can choose the story of the princess." I sigh before mumbling. "Probably gonna be Frozen anyways."
