Later that day, we made a fire, everyone resting against a tree or stump as night fell. "We should do something," Beth spoke up. I turned to look at her as Daryl kept his gaze on the fire.

"We should do something." she repeated louder when she didn't get an answer. I sighed and shook my head 'no', and she groaned. "We aren't the only survivors." she said, and this time Daryl looked up at her. "We can't be. Rick, Carl, Michonne...they could still be out there. Glenn and Maggie could've made it out. They could've." she spoke.

I felt her staring at me, and when I didn't say anything she turned to Daryl. "You're a tracker. You can track." she said, stating the obvious, and stood up. "C'mon. The sun will be up soon. If we head out now we can-" He looked up at her, not moving. "Fine. If you won't track, I will." She took a knife and started walking away from the fire. I let out a sigh and looked at Daryl.

A couple of seconds later, he rolled his eyes and stood up, grabbing his crossbow and I put out the fire before we headed off to catch up to her. "This is ridiculous, Daryl. She's going to herself, or all of us killed." I stated through clenched teeth, and he sighed.

"I know, but we can't jus' leave her." I nodded my head in understanding, but still didn't like the idea of following her while she was being reckless. We walked in silence, and though I knew it might be stupid, I reached out to take his hand. He didn't move to pull away when I interlocked our fingers.

We still couldn't see Beth in front of us, but we kept going knowing eventually she'd get tired and stop. "I don't like her that way. Y'know that right?" I turned to face him as he looked ahead, and smiled to myself. "I guess I just needed to hear it from you." He nodded out of the corner of my eye. And that's when we heard the screaming.

"Beth!" I cried out as we started to run towards the screams, and as we made it to the road, she wasn't there. I heard screeching of tires taking off, and turned to find a car speeding away. Daryl ran after it, and I quickly followed panting as we call out for them to stop. But they ignored us, and soon disappeared in the distance.

"What do we do now?" I asked through pants, and he turned to look at the walkers that seemed intrigued with out presence. "Run." he demanded with a low growl pushing me forward as we sprinted to the opposite side of the road. We ran for what seemed like forever before my body gave out, betraying me as I fell forward, hitting the hard ground.

He came to my side, lifting me to my feet before taking me in his arms, holding me close as he panted. I hugged him back as a whimper escaped my lips. Beth was gone...it was just us now.
