A/n: hey guys! So I'm worried. Not a lot of reads for this yet and I was wondering why. If I had continued My Only Weakness, the chapters would still be the ones in this story just in that book. So, for the fun of it, I decided to make a second book. Please keep reading and voting that's what keeps me going. Also check out my new story Familiarity (:

We followed the road, Daryl and I, no words spoken between us, the only sounds heard being the birds and our panted breaths. There had still been no sign of Beth, and I could see that Daryl was starting to give up.

He collapsed to the ground, panting as he buried his face in his hands. I squatted down beside him, running a hand over my sweat covered brow and closed my eyes. Minutes passed, and I suddenly had the feeling one would get when being watched.

I parted my eyes, finding a shadow standing over mine, and I quickly stood knife hand. "Ah, ah. You don't wanna do that." a voice scolded in a taunting tone. I turned to Daryl, and met the eyes of a stranger. He had greying, disheveled hair and the beginnings of a scruffy beard.

Daryl had his crossbow aimed at his head, and the man's arms were up in surrender. "I'm in the market for a crossbow myself...but I think I'd prefer one with more arrows." he said chuckling, the sound sending shivers down my spine.

One of his men came up to me, trailing a finger across my cheekbone, and it took everything in me not to scoff in disgust. "Well aren't you a pretty one, huh?" he tried to sound seductive, but nothing about the way he said it would have any woman begging on their knees. Daryl tensed beside me, and I could tell he was ready for a fight.

The leader noticed this as well. "C'mon, now. You know you don't stand a chance; two of against all of us." he said, and I hated to admit he was right. With a grunt, Daryl lowered his crossbow. "Now, you folk are welcome to tag along. We're in the process of tracking someone down."

"W- what did they do?" I stuttered out, sliding my knife back into its holster. He looked to me, "He killed one of our men, and it's only fair that we avenge'm."

I nodded and looked to Daryl for our next move. He met my gaze before nodding towards the leader, who then proceeded to tell us his name was Joe.

"Now we have a system, and it's gotten us this far. Don't lie, and if you see something you want, call out 'claimed'. Got it?" We nodded, and Daryl seemed to notice when the man who'd talked to me before started to open his mouth, for he beat him to it.m

"Claimed." he announced as his arm snaked itself around my waist, pulling me hard against his side.

Joe chuckled as the other man groaned, "That's Len. He can get pretty hands on when it comes to the ladies." I almost puked in my mouth at his comment and Daryl's grip only tightened.

"Well, let's get a move on shall we?" Joe suggested with a creepy grin before he turned to walk off down the road. Daryl and I looked to one another briefly, but decided mutually that following him would be our only option if we wanted to survive.
