Chapter Eight - Explain Yourself

The next day
Katniss POV

Another day of this shopping task shit, after yesterday I'm dreading what the task is today. We've all been told to get back in our puppet uniforms and have been told to sit in the living room. There's seats, almost like benches, that have 2 levels so someone has to sit right behind you, but there's two of them, the puppets have to sit on one and the puppet masters have to sit on the other ones.

Peeta pulls me over to sit next to him. He's on my right and on my left is Cato. We sit here for about 5 minutes until Big Brothers voice comes through the speaker and starts explaining the task.

"For apart of today's shopping task the puppet masters must figure out who said what. A list of quotes from people in the house will be read out, the puppet masters must decide which housemates said the quote and who they were talking about. The first quote is, "He doesn't clean and he doesn't cook. He does nothing."

Glimmer takes control of the situation and starts pointing at random people trying to decide who said it she comes to a final answer, "Right okay I think Finnick said this about Cinna" we all agree.

Finnick and Cinna get up and stand behind to little podiums while we await the results.

"You are incorrect. In fact puppet masters, Clove said this about Haymitch."

"Sorry Haymitch!" Clove shouts over to him.

"Fair enough" Haymitch says back.

"Your next quote is, '"Im not going to lie, I'm very sexually attracted to him"

I burst out laughing along with Annie while the others just sit there in silence, "Oh come on light up!" I shout through my laughter.

Cinna speaks up with what he thinks, "Okay I think it's either Katniss about Peeta or-" but he gets cut off by Cressida.

"No Katniss wouldn't say that because she has a boyfriend" I look over to her and give her a smile as if to say thank you and she nods in return.

"Okay" Cinna states before he continues, "Okay then what about, Annie about Finnick?"

We all agree and they go stand up at the podiums.

"This is incorrect. In fact, Glimmer said this about Peeta"

Glimmer shoots up from her seat, "No I fucking didn't! That is a lie! No I did not!"

Finnick laughs and elbows Peeta in the chest.

Haymitch speaks up and shouts across the noise to Glimmer, "Yes you did! You said it on the bed!"

"No I did not say that but if I did he is good looking you know?" Glimmer mumbles, "he is cute but that doesn't mean I want to sleep with him."

Peeta just stays silent throughout the whole thing but everyone else keeps talking about it until Glimmer says she doesn't want to play anymore. I try to reason with her but she's not paying attention, soon everyone's shouting over each other until she shouts out, "Okay! Okay! I did say that! I wanted to fuck you from the minute I saw you I just...." But she trails off leaving all of us silent, as for Peeta, he just looks uncomfortable.

Glimmer sits back down and Annie tries to make her feel better and thank god, it works.

"Your next quote is, "it's more than friends, it's obvious"

We all sit in silence until Cinna takes charge again, "What are we thinking? Annie about Finnick?"

"Yeah but which order?" Delly says.
