Brownie: I bet it's amazing being a star huh?
She asked as she folded the last of his boxers, then moved on to putting up his clothes in the closet.
Luhan (sighing): It's not as amazing as people think. It's hectic and very stressful sticking to schedules. Being watched and scrutinized by thousands of people is no fun. The tiniest of mistake can become an international headline and some might even hate you for making a decision of your own. (smiling) But that's why we are called stars, we are more than extraordinary, not many can live through it.
Brownie (encouragingly): You are an awesome idol Lu and your fans love you. We will always stand by you.
A knot formed in his throat. Is that how she felt, that she was only a fan? She had no idea how much she meant to him. His sweet Brownie.
Luhan (emotionally staring at her): Brownie, you are not just a fan to me.
Brownie (softly): I know, I'm so glad to be your friend.
Gosh! She didn't get it. I guess she will always see him as nothing more than a friend and he highly doubted she might want to date him now. He stood a better chance with her when he was not famous. He knew how much Brownie loves a quiet life. She didn't like drama and dating him was a recipe for a life infused with drama.
Luhan (shifting the topic): So what about you? How's life?
Brownie: Well, mine is not as fancy as yours but I can confidently say I'm kinda living my dream. There's only one thing missing.
Luhan (curiously): What?
Brownie: I can tell you but I might have to kill you.
Luhan: That's a bluff. You wouldn't dare.
Brownie: You underestimate me.
Luhan: Accept it, you wouldn't hurt a fly. Come on spill it.
In as much as Brownie wanted to get this off her chest, she was afraid. Afraid of confessing and hurting their friendship in case Luhan didn't feel the same way about her- her fear all along. This was the reason she had never acted on those feelings.
She remembered the first time they met. It was her first day at university and she had walked into the cafeteria to get lunch. A group of Chinese guys were seated by a table she was walking past; unaware of her fluency in Chinese, they went on and on saying things a proper guy would never say to a lady.
The shocked expressions on their faces were priceless when she told them, "That's not a descent way to talk about a lady" in Chinese and walked off towards the serving counter where she met Luhan, who was also in the queue. He had witnessed the entire incident and highly praised her on how well she handled it. He then apologised on behalf of all descent men who will never treat a woman that way.
That's how her friendship with this beautiful soul had sprang forth. They became very close as time went by and she gradually caught feelings for him. Now here she was, standing before him and having the opportunity to finally let it out.
Brownie (taking a deep breath): Fine. I will tell you but promise not to laugh at me 'cause it may sound ridiculous.
Luhan: Cross my heart.
